What REDMI is bringing in
The REDMI Headphones Neo is the milestone product here. It marks REDMI's first cans in the over-ear category, a slot that has long been occupied by Sony, JBL, Bose and Apple at much higher prices. According to Xiaomi's global specs and earlier regional coverage from Lowyat and TechNave, the cans run on 40mm titanium-coated dynamic drivers tuned for a 20Hz to 40kHz response, lean on Bluetooth 5.4 for wireless, and add USB Audio with Hi-Res certification for wired listening.
Active noise cancellation tops out at 42dB with three depth levels for noisy commutes, quieter offices and full-attenuation modes. A 600mAh internal cell stretches up to 72 hours of playback with ANC switched off. At launch the Headphones Neo is available in Obsidian Black and Sand White, with a Mist Blue option slated for later in the year.
The REDMI Buds 8 is the mainstream wireless earbud option in this trio, sitting alongside the existing REDMI Buds 8 Pro and 8 Lite that have been on Malaysian shelves at RM129 and above. The REDMI Watch 6 is the smartwatch in the lineup, with a 2.1 inch AMOLED display, GPS, NFC and a 550mAh battery in a 9.9mm-thick body. The Watch 6 has been listed in Malaysia previously between RM353 and RM447, so today's local push is the formal Xiaomi Malaysia run for the trio.
Why this matters for Malaysian buyers
Xiaomi's pitch is that the REDMI line keeps prices low enough for first-time buyers, students and households fitting out multiple users at once, without ditching the headline features. Specific RM pricing for each new SKU was not disclosed in today's release, but Xiaomi confirmed Malaysian availability for all three products and described the pricing as accessible. Buyers should watch the Xiaomi Malaysia online store and authorised retailers for the launch RM figures.
The REDMI Headphones Neo is the most interesting move because over-ear headphones at the entry tier remain rare in Malaysia. If Xiaomi prices it close to the Philippine launch range of around RM215, it would undercut just about every name-brand over-ear set on the local market while still offering 72 hour battery life and 42dB ANC.
The takeaway
For Malaysian listeners, the REDMI Headphones Neo could be the cheapest serious over-ear option to consider this year. Pair it with the REDMI Buds 8 for daily commutes and the REDMI Watch 6 for fitness tracking, and Xiaomi covers a full personal audio plus smartwatch stack at REDMI prices. Look out for the local launch pricing this week.
