If you have been waiting for a square-faced smartwatch that takes health tracking past the usual step counter, Huawei's Malaysian launch on 19 May 2026 is the one to look at. The new Huawei Watch Fit 5 Series starts at RM799, and the Pro edition picks up features that used to sit only on flagship wrist computers, including an ECG sensor and arterial stiffness checks.
Huawei announced the new lineup at its "Now Is Your Spark" event in Kuala Lumpur, alongside the diamond-set Huawei Watch Ultimate Design Spring Edition and the Huawei FreeClip 2 in a new Berry Purple finish.

What's new in the Watch Fit 5
The base Huawei Watch Fit 5 keeps the square shape Huawei has been refining since the original Fit, this time with a 1.82-inch display. The Pro edition stretches that to 1.92 inches and ramps brightness up to 3,000 nits, which matters in Malaysian afternoon sun where most smartwatches wash out.
The Pro also swaps the basic chassis for an aerospace-grade titanium alloy bezel paired with 2.5D sapphire glass. The White edition uses a different approach: Huawei calls it Aerospace-Grade Nanoceramic Metal, an anodised aluminium finish that forms a ceramic-like coating during production. The standard Watch Fit 5 ships with a Silver edition strap made from nearly 100 percent recycled nylon with antibacterial and water-repellent treatment.
Why the Pro is the interesting one
The headline health feature on the Pro is what Huawei calls Malaysia's first diabetes risk study on a wearable smartwatch. It uses non-invasive PPG-based vascular signal analysis to surface potential diabetes risk patterns over time. This is screening, not diagnosis, but it is the kind of background reading most Malaysians would never get from a clinic visit.
The Pro also adds CE and MDA-certified ECG, Pulse Wave Arrhythmia Analysis, and arterial stiffness detection. Backing those up are TruSleep 5.0, HRV analysis, emotional well-being tracking, and women's health features.
On the fitness side, the new racket sports modes are the standout: Goodshot for badminton, PickleX for pickleball, and Tennix for tennis. The Pro adds trail running, golf with maps for over 17,000 courses, and freediving down to 40 metres.
Battery, payments, and the usual
The Watch Fit 5 Series is rated for up to 10 days of battery life, carries 64GB of storage, supports Touch 'n Go QR payments, and works with both iOS and Android phones. That last point matters for buyers who use an iPhone but want a more capable companion than the Apple Watch SE at this price.

The takeaway
The Watch Fit 5 Series is the more interesting half of this announcement for everyday buyers. If you want the ECG and the diabetes risk study, the Pro is the one to look at. If you mostly want a bright outdoor display and the racket sports modes, the base Watch Fit 5 at RM799 is already a strong pick.
