What ASUS is bringing to Malaysian gaming laptops
If you have been waiting on a new thin-and-light gaming laptop in Malaysia, ASUS has put two of its 2026 ROG Zephyrus models on the local price list. The ROG Zephyrus G14 and the larger ROG Zephyrus G16 both land here through the ASUS e-Store on 17 May 2026, with full retail availability across Malaysia from 24 May. Both models keep the Zephyrus identity of being slim and travel-friendly, but they push performance up with the latest CPU and GPU options.
What's new in the 2026 Zephyrus line
The 2026 refresh covers three things at once: a new CPU pairing, RTX 50-series mobile GPUs, and a brighter OLED panel. Configurations now use either Intel Core Ultra 9 386H or AMD Ryzen AI 9 465, paired with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060, 5070 Ti, 5080 or, on the top-spec G16, an RTX 5090 Laptop GPU. ASUS keeps its ROG Intelligent Cooling stack to push higher sustained power inside the slim chassis.
The display is the other notable upgrade. Both Zephyrus models use a ROG Nebula HDR OLED panel rated at up to 1100 nits peak brightness, with VESA DisplayHDR True Black 1000 certification. The screen sits behind Corning Glass DXC, which ASUS says cuts reflections and improves durability. Outside, the 2026 chassis keeps the 35-zone Slash Lighting array on the lid. The G14 starts at 1.50 kg and 1.49 cm thin, which is unusually compact for a laptop with these GPU options.
Why it matters
The thin-and-light gaming laptop category has gotten more crowded in Malaysia, with Lenovo, Razer and MSI all running variants in the same form factor. The Zephyrus line has historically been ASUS's answer for buyers who do not want a 16 mm desktop replacement. Bringing RTX 5090 Laptop GPU into the G16 means there is now a real ceiling option in the slim category, while the entry-level G14 with RTX 5060 sits at the lower end of the price range.
The OLED with True Black 1000 HDR also nudges the Zephyrus into territory traditionally reserved for creator-focused laptops, which fits ASUS's pitch of using these for both gaming and content work.

Takeaway
If you have been holding back on a thin gaming laptop because the older Zephyrus topped out at RTX 4080, the 2026 line removes that ceiling and adds a 1100-nit HDR OLED to the deal. Whether the value lands depends on whether you actually use that headroom; for most Malaysian players, the G14 with RTX 5070 Ti at RM17,999 is the sweet spot of the new lineup.
