For millions globally, Apple AirPods are already indispensable for everything from music to calls and podcasts. Today, during WWDC25, Apple announced updates that will make your AirPods more versatile for everyday use and content creation.

Crystal Clear Audio Recording on the Go

Apple is bringing studio-quality audio recording feature for compatible AirPods for content creators recording audio for their podcasts, interviews, and more regardless of where they are.

This update allows interviewers, podcasters, singers, and other creators to capture high-fidelity vocals directly through their AirPods. Thanks to the advanced H2 chip, beamforming microphones, and computational audio, your voice will sound more natural, rich, and clear, as if you're in a soundproofed room.

What's more, Voice Isolation technology will help cut out background noise, so your recordings stay clear even in noisy environments. This fantastic feature will work across your iPhone, iPad, and Mac, supporting popular apps like Camera, Voice Memos, dictation in Messages, and even video conferencing tools like Webex, alongside compatible third-party camera apps.

Beyond creating content, your AirPods are also making conversations clearer. Thanks to advancements like Voice Isolation, all compatible AirPods users will experience enhanced voice quality on calls. This means whether you're on a standard iPhone call, a FaceTime chat, or using other apps that handle calls, your voice will sound more natural and distinct, making every conversation more enjoyable.

A Personal Camera Remote

Taking group photos or starting video recordings from a distance is about to get a whole lot easier. With the new camera remote feature, your AirPods now act like a handy trigger.

While using the Camera app (or compatible third-party camera apps) on your iPhone or iPad, simply press and hold the stem of your AirPods to snap a photo or begin a video recording. Another press-and-hold will stop the recording.

When Can You Get These Amazing Updates?

The great news is that these powerful new features will arrive as a free firmware update for compatible AirPods models: the AirPods 4, AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), and AirPods Pro 2. You can expect these exciting updates to officially roll out to everyone in Q3, alongside the release of iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS Tahoe 26.
