The most eyecatching feature about the latest POCO F7 Ultra Smartphone was the cute colourway it appears in — Yellow and Black; the former being our favourite, of course.
Other features that one might like the POCO F7 Ultra is that it comes with Snapdragon 8 Elite, Vision Boost D7 chipset and a 120W HyperCharge feature that goes to 100% battery in half an hour, all for RM2,699 (the 12GB+256GB variant).

Here's what we uncovered during our brief review with the POCO F7 Ultra.

1. Camera Performance

This is a phone that aims to deliver a balanced smartphone experience for its price. POCO F7 Ultra might not have shouted much about its camera prowess, but it did do well in the short stint we played with it. Its zoom capabilities is good for what's advertised.
Colour tone in images is also standard albeit with a slight green tint (we feel). Yet, not overpowering that it throws colours off. Standard shots can be oversharpened with the HD setting turned on. Otherwise, we imagine the POCO F7 Ultra is good for portrait shots.

F7 Ultra is designed with a triple camera setup consisting of 50MP main + 50MP telephoto + 32MP ultra-wide lens with 120° field-of-view, as well as a 32MP front camera.
Images are further enhanced with the POCO AISP platform to bring AI-powered computational photography, UltraSnap (150-frame burst shooting), and 20X UltraZoom Beta.

2. Design

As mentioned, we like the colour of the simple yellow POCO F7 Ultra, which is not a common colour for smartphones.
In my hands, the F7 Ultra feels solid to the touch, and is neither overly premium nor cheap in the quality. In fact, the phone is IP68-rated, and is protected with POCO Shield Glass complete with a quad-curved back and a gloss-matte finish.
Thus, this is not a phone that will attract fingerprints. At 212g in weight, F7 Ultra is also quite comfortable to hold.
If you want to game, the F7 Ultra's Smart Frame Rate goes up to 120FPS and 2K Super Resolution as well as Game HDR technology to enhance your visual experience.
Thermal issues is also not a problem as the F7 Ultra has LiquidCool Technology 4.0 on POCO F7 Series, which reduces SoC temperature by up to 3°C, allowing for extended use without throttling performance.
3. Battery

POCO F7 Ultra holds a 5,300mAh battery, a 120W HyperCharge in wired more and 50W wireless charging to help guide you through a long day.
Full charging with the HyperCharge takes impressively just 34 minutes. And POCO also stated that the battery will retain 80% health even after 1,600 cycles thanks to POCO Surge P3 and G1 chipsets.
For everything that the POCO F7 Ultra is designed to do, we think it offers a good balanced phone experience for any type of user to have!
POCO F7 Ultra is available from RM2,699 in a variant of 12GB RAM with 256GB or 16GB RAM with 512GB storage. Purchase online on mi.com, and official POCO stores on Shopee and Lazada.
