Why It’s Worth Upgrading To A Dashcam Like The DDPAI Z50 Pro

It’s fine to think you only need the minimum in a dashcam. One that records automatically, has various storage support options and that it does not fry under our hot, Malaysian sun.

But for a driving culture like ours, we shouldn’t think so lightly about dash cameras.

Malaysia’s ranked as having one of the highest accident rates on the road in Asia. Hit-and-run accidents are common, and car maintenance can be high in Malaysia.

That’s why protecting yourself with evidence is crucial to get yourself justice on the road, with a well-equipped dashcam like the DDPAI Z50 Pro, known for its high-quality footage recording and connectivity options to let you access footage quickly.

The DDPAI Z50 Pro is one of the best-value dash cameras you can buy in Malaysia. For its mid-range price, the dashcam has premium features often found in higher dash cameras such as recording of 4k video quality, NightVis 2.0 for clear night shots, a 3-inch screen that allows for video viewing, Wi-Fi 6 connectivity support, powered by a supercapacitor to operate in hot temperature, and the option to utilise its 4g capabilities.

You might have also seen a similar dash cam to the Z50 Pro which is the 70mai A510. Yes, both have similar features and are available at similar prices. But there are a few features that make the Z50 Pro stand out compared to the 70mai A510.

Jodee's approach to topics is a simple one—overthink it. Such is life when jargons and terms become saturated in the consumer ma ...

1. Already Connected & Ready To Go

Both the dash cams come with similar accessories: a USB-C cable, a dual-port charger, an adhesive mount, and electrostatic film.

But with the Z50 Pro, you can easily get a hardwire kit and a free SIM with 30GB of data for 90 days. With it, you can enable live streaming, alerts, and remote access right away.

With the 30GB of data SIM card, this enables 4G support on the Z50 Pro, which lets you access certain benefits below:

  • Instant Push Alerts: Updates your vehicle whereabouts in real-time. This also tags a timestamp on your footage complete with location details.
  • Remote Live View: Access footage whenever via the DDPAI app
  • Remote Capture: Get snapshots or videos remotely
  • Cloud Storage: Automatic uploads of footage to your online account
  • Geofencing: Get to know when your vehicle exits a defined area
  • Vehicle Location Tracking: Track your vehicle’s exact location—great for family members sharing a single vehicle
  • Travel Time Lapse Recording: Opt for footage as time-lapse instead of full video format.

While A510 has 4G support as well, it is less straightforward for plug-and-play in the sense that you’ll need to buy a separate SIM and hardwire kit for remote features.

2. Higher Video Quality

Footage on the DDPAI Z50 Pro looks saturated and clear, making details more obvious.

The Z50 Pro comes with a 3840 x 2160px — true 4K resolution— for its front camera, whereas the A510 has 2592 x 1944px 2K resolution. Both have their rear cameras at 1920 x 1080px.

Footage on the 70mai A510 looks washed out, lacking contrast and sharpness overall.

While the difference in quality might not matter to you, they can make a big difference when you have to identify certain details in accident footage. This helps with producing a fair police report and for a smoother insurance claim.

Even in dim quality, the Z50 Pro has enhanced night vision recording with its AI ISP Enhanced NightVIS 2.0 feature. This is useful for not just night-time drives but also for parking mode monitoring.

The Z50 Pro also has a bigger 3-inch screen to let you quickly access footage, compared to A510’s 2-inch screen which can be hard on the eyes. And even if you don’t think 3-inch is sufficient, you can easily access files on the Z50 Pro via the DDPAI app.

3. Future-Proof Transfer & Storage

Being closer within your reach, you can also access footage faster with the Z50 Pro compared to the 70mai A510.

Lacking in the A510, there’s Cloud Storage Backup on the Z50 Pro you can use to access any footage whenever an accident or such happens. The Z50 Pro will upload emergency footage and snapshots onto the cloud so you can quickly view and download any file via the DDPAI app, ensuring data security.

Speaking of Cloud storage, the Z50 Pro supports up to 512GB MicroSD card for local storage, whereas the A510 only has up to 256GB storage support option.

Also absent in the A510 is Wi-Fi 6 support, which the Z50 Pro has. You can make 4K video transfers very quickly thanks to enhanced bandwidth and reduced interference. This is especially useful for fast-paced situations such as needing to make a police report within 24 hours.

4. A Step-Up in User Experience

Both dashcams have features like Advanced Driver Assistance Systems 2.0 (ADAS), built-in GPS, and their own parking mode version as well. They also have great durability, due to our hot and humid weather, they are designed with a supercapacitor to withstand operation under the hot sun in a hot car.

But Z50 Pro takes it up a notch as you can monitor your car when you’re away with 24/7 parking monitoring mode using Remote Live View. This is a big bonus in protection as you can check on your car whenever, or if you get suspicious instant alerts, protecting your car and yourself as the owner.

For a hands-free operation (especially when you’re driving), the Z50 Pro has voice command support as well, which the A510 does not.

You can also use the Travel Time Lapse on the Z50 pro to compact longer videos without leaving any details out, making it great to use in reports. The A510 does not seem to have any similar feature like this, which means compilation of long videos has to be done manually on the driver’s part.

Additionally, while both cameras have the same operational temperature at -20°C to 70°C, the Z50 Pro is officially rated to be able to store in a condition of -40°C to 85°C without suffering any possible heat damage. Whereas, the A510 does not have any official record on this.

5. A Design That Fits in Seamlessly

Especially for those who want something to seamlessly fit their car’s aesthetics, the Z50 Pro has the edge, designed with a modern and classy look, with a nice matte finish. Navigational buttons below its 3-inch screen are also discreet, giving an overall compact and elegant shape.

Meanwhile, the A510 has that traditional dash cam look and a smaller 2-inch screen, as well as an obtrusive and silver rotating knob at the side. While the A510 is simple and sufficient, we think the shape of the Z50 Pro is more understated and would fit most cars’ interior in general.

Between the two dash cams, the DDPAI Z50 Pro offers greater value as its price gets you more, especially with its convenient features.

On the Z50 Pro, you get remote access to footage, faster transfer speeds and methods, more updated Wi-Fi connectivity, a lot more local and cloud storage, higher video quality and instant alerts of your car’s location. They all give a boost to a peaceful state of mind when you drive your car. In comparison, the A510 has slightly lower specifications, even lacking some of these features altogether.

While 70mai A510 is simple and sufficient for basic recording, the finer details and enhancements on the DDPAI Z50 Pro will greatly enhance your dashcam ownership experience, ultimately giving you more convenience in car ownership and bang for your buck.
