Review: Hydragun — The quickest solution to relieving muscle tension

A more portable solution than massage chairs

A reliable massage gun can be a game-changer for individuals stepping into the realm of fitness. Offering targeted relief and versatility, these devices aim to alleviate tension and promote recovery. Among the multiple options available, the Hydragun has had quite the reputation amongst the other massage guns on the market.

Here, we test if the Hydragun is as good as it says it is, as well as whether or not it works effectively to help us get through any physically stressful days in the office.

What is the Hydragun?

The Hydragun is quite the solid choice for beginners venturing into fitness, or those dealing with post-workout soreness. When you're new to exercising, it's usually common to experience muscle soreness as your body adjusts to the new routines and muscles you didn’t even know existed. That’s where this massage gun can help provide effective relief for your aching muscles.

It comes with six attachments and six different speed options, offering users the versatility to target different muscle groups and adjust the intensity according to their needs. The different attachments it came with were:

  • Ball head
  • Fork head
  • Bullet head
  • Curved head
  • Steel round head
  • Steel flat head
  • Domed steel head

While the massage gun did excel on larger muscle groups, some users may find it overly aggressive to use certain areas, hence why it’s important to choose the appropriate attachment.

However, one of the biggest issues we noticed was the sheer weight of the massage gun. It was extremely heavy, and the weight of the device could pose a challenge for individuals trying to use it on themselves, especially those lacking strength.

We discovered that it was much more difficult to give ourselves a massage as compared to asking someone else to hold it. Even if we did manage to give ourselves a massage, the issue of sore arms would arise from holding on the the heavy device for long. It’s probably best to ask someone else to help give you a massage as it makes the experience more enjoyable.

So, the lack of a convenient and comfortable way to use the machine by yourself is perhaps the only issue one might face with this device.

As for the overall quality of the build, the massage gun feels extremely durable and like it can withstand rigorous routines with no problem. The bonus point is also with the ergonomics of the handle, as it was quite comfortable to hold and did not add much extra strain to the wrists.

“In Our Experience” - Live ProductNation Review

We tested all 6 attachments as instructed by the guide that is provided together with the Hydragun. The attachments that stood out to us were the curved head and the steel round head.

For knots around the shoulders, the curved head effectively helped relieve tension around the muscles that are typically sore after sitting and staring at the laptop for a long time.

On the other hand, the steel round head provided a more comfortable experience as it glided over clothing more efficiently than the ball head. We also followed one of the recommendations inside the guide and placed the steel head inside the freezer for an added cooling effect.

Additionally, another thing that we want to point out is that the sensation of the massage gun may be ticklish, especially with certain attachments. In fact, the higher the speed is, the more ticklish the experience can become.

The operating sound level is indeed on the quiet side, and even at the maximum speed, the Hydragun didn’t produce much noise that would disturb anyone. The range of speed settings caters to varying preferences, although some users may find the lower settings surprisingly strong, with the highest setting feeling unnecessarily intense.

Nonetheless, its sleek appearance and user-friendly design make it an attractive option for those seeking straightforward relief from muscle tension.
