In the world of new smartphones emerging from companies almost every month, there are always going to be some that stand out in particular; even more so is having relatively affordable smartphones with great camera hardware and software. OPPO's latest launch for the OPPO Reno11 5G sets a new bar for studio-like portraits taken from a smartphone, but that's not all there is to it.

Design & Display
Firstly, we personally really enjoyed the design of the OPPO Reno11, more particularly, the “Wave Green” colourway. Not only did it look beautiful, but it also had a great hand feel and a silky smooth finish that made the phone feel and look luxurious.
Furthermore, when its sleek and slim body was paired with the slightly curved back design, it offered a very ergonomic grip that didn’t tire us out after holding it for long. Measuring in at only 8.04mm, the OPPO Reno11 was truly an easy yet slim phone to bring around for daily use.
As for the display, the AMOLED screen was as expected, but what stood out was the 120Hz curved screen that delivered seamless visuals. It perfectly showcased a vibrant spectrum of its claim of delivering 1 billion colours, making every detail on the screen pop with brightness.
Performance & Battery
The OPPO Reno11 is powered by the Mediatek Dimensity 7050 chipset, which was pretty capable of running the new ColorOS 14 relatively smoothly. In fact, ColorOS 14 was one of the highlights of the phone, as it brought about some really exciting features that enhanced the overall experience.
For example, one of the features that we particularly enjoyed was the Smart Touch and File Dock which provided plenty of productivity to our daily tasks. With File Dock, we were able to streamline grabbing images and texts, as well as file saving by enabling swift drag-and-drop access across all applications.
There was also Smart Image Matting, which facilitated easy subject cut-outs for quick sticker insertion across various apps. This was a really fun feature to have as we really enjoyed creating stickers from numerous random objects and pictures and sending them to friends.
Overall battery life on the OPPO Reno11 was also pretty decent, as the 5,000mAh battery managed to power through an entire day with casual usage and on a full charge.
Camera
Last but not least, is the camera. The OPPO Reno11 features 3 different cameras, as well as OPPO’s Ultra-Clear Portrait Camera System, which is meant to capture studio-grade portrait photos.
OPPO has always had an excellent reputation for their cameras, and this one lived up to our expectations. The 50MP main camera contains a Sony IMX709 sensor, which was able to give detailed and crips photos that looked amazing in both day and night time!
In terms of the telephoto 2x optical zoom, we were able to get a focal range of 47mm, which is (pro tip!) the ideal focal length for portrait photography.
The difference between using the regular 1x versus the 2x portrait mode yielded some pretty astounding results, turning an unassuming scene into something more aesthetic and studio-like. Using the Portrait Expert Engine also allowed for much better separation, showcasing skin tones and facial features more naturally and in detail.
