Samsung Unpacked 2024: Samsung Announces The Galaxy Ring, A Health-Focused Smart Ring

Health tracking on a finger coming soon!

The Samsung Unpacked 2024 just happened earlier this morning at 2 am MYT, and apart from the much-anticipated and much-speculated Galaxy S24 series, Samsung also gave us a lot of new features in the form of Galaxy AI.

Towards the end of the event, Samsung revealed that Galaxy AI will be also integrated into the Samsung Health app, which means health tracking with the Samsung Galaxy Watch6 series will be smarter than ever. Among these features include the Samsung Sleep Apnea features, medication tracker, and Booster Cards to help track your goals.

These AI updates to Samsung Health will be coming “later this year”, according to Samsung. But while these are interesting and all, what really caused a buzz was Samsung’s new health device: the Galaxy Ring.

We know virtually nothing about the Galaxy Ring, apart from the fact that it’s… a ring. From the teasers that were shown during Galaxy Unpacked 2024, we know that the ring has a bunch of sensors on the inside, which presumably will be used for health tracking purposes. Tracking what, when, and how is still elusive to us at the time of writing.

Smart rings aren’t exactly new technology, but this is Samsung’s first health-focused smart ring and the brand’s first new line of devices for some time. It's likely that it will be officially launched later this year, probably during Samsung's second Unpacked event of the year, which should be held in July 2024.

The biggest question now is, would the Galaxy Ring land on Malaysian shores?
