Samsung's biannual Galaxy Unpacked Event has just happened, and it’s certainly lived up to its name: absolutely packed with information! For this event, Samsung has launched the newest addition to the flagship series, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Series, which comes as no surprise to any who’s been following smartphone launches in the past few months.
Unlike the past few generations, the main highlight of the Galaxy S24 series isn’t the hardware—this time, Samsung has decided to focus on the software by building more AI capabilities into the flagship phones. Equipped with Galaxy AI, the Samsung Galaxy S24 series are some of the smartest smartphones yet on the market.
We made our way to San Jose to get the newest dosh on the Samsung Galaxy S24 series and Galaxy AI: here they are!
Samsung Galaxy S24
As usual, the flagship series comes in threes: the base, the plus, and the ultra. Let’s start with the Galaxy S24, the most basic model of the three.
The Galaxy S24 is powered by the Samsung Exynos 2200 processor and comes equipped with a triple camera setup of 50MP Main + 10MP Telephoto+ 12MP Ultrawide.
The S24 is the smallest smartphone of the series, with a 6.2” FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED display that has 1 - 120Hz adaptive refresh rates. It also has the smallest battery capacity in the series, at only 4,000 mAh.
Both the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ have a streamlined One-mass design, which gives the phones a more aesthetically pleasing appearance by seamlessly connecting the device’s rear cover and side frame.
Interestingly, the Galaxy S24 series features components made with recycled cobalt and rare earth elements, marking yet another milestone in Samsung’s sustainability vision. In fact, the Galaxy S24 series is also the first Galaxy S series to be designed with recycled steel and TPU!
And here's another shocker: Samsung is offering a whopping 7 generations of OS updates and 7 years of security updates on the whole Galaxy S24 series. That means you can reliably use your new Galaxy S24 phone for more than 7 years!

Samsung Galaxy S24+
Hardware-wise, the Galaxy S24+ is pretty much just a bigger version of the Galaxy S24, with minor upgrades. The triple camera setup is exactly the same as the Galaxy S24 base model, with a 50MP main camera, a 10MP telephoto, and a 12MP ultrawide. It’s also powered by the Samsung Exynos 2200.
On to the differences: the Galaxy S24+ has a 6.7” Dynamic AMOLED display, with a better QHD+ resolution, which is the same as the Galaxy S24 Ultra. The battery capacity is also larger, at 4,900 mAh.
Interestingly, the Galaxy S24+’s larger display is housed in a chassis that has almost the same size specifications as the Galaxy S24, resulting in an incredible screen-to-body ratio. Essentially, the Galaxy S24 and S24+ look almost identical on the outside.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra
Now, the big brother of the Galaxy S24 Series has everything, and then more. Powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 For Galaxy processor, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is optimized to deliver better NPU performance for more efficient AI processing.
As a flagship powerhous, the Galaxy S24 Ultra boasts an optimal thermal control system with a 1.9 times larger vapor chamber to regulate surface temperature and maximize performance and power over longer periods of time.
It also has a flatter QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED display that measures 6.8” and features the Corning® Gorilla® Armor for durability and reduced reflection.
The camera system sports a quad camera of 200MP + 50MP + 12MP + 10MP. It has a 60% larger pixel size at 1.4 μm, allowing the phone’s camera to take in more light and thus give better Nightography results.
Plus, the Galaxy S23 Ultra also boasts a new 5x optical zoom lens which works with the 50MP camera to enable optical-quality photos at up to 10x zoom.
Apart from that, the AI image processing has also been upgraded to include the Galaxy AI editing tools, allowing you to manage simple edits like erase, re-compose, and remaster all on the same device. Edit Suggestion and Generative Edit gives the user more creative control and freedom when editing.

- Note Assist in Samsung Notes streamlines organization with AI-generated summaries and templates.
- Transcript Assist transcribes and summarizes voice recordings, even in multi-speaker scenarios.
Apart from communication assistance, the Galaxy S24 series also introduces the innovative Circle to Search a gesture-driven feature with Google, allowing users to search by circling, highlighting, or tapping on the screen after long pressing the home button. This innovative tool provides high-quality search results without leaving the app, offering a seamless and epic user experience.
Previously, we mentioned that the Galaxy S24 offers innovative AI editing tools for photos, allowing users to easily erase, re-compose, and remaster shots—and more!
- Edit Suggestion suggests optimal tweaks to photographs after you’ve snapped them, so even amateur photographers can ensure that the final product is stunning.
- Generative Edit fills in image backgrounds and adjusts subject positions seamlessly. A watermark will be added to images enhanced by generative AI.
- Instant Slow-mo creates smoother slow-motion videos by generating additional frames based on movement.
- Super HDR provides lifelike previews before capturing, even third-party social apps. In Gallery and Instagram, photos and videos are displayed in Super HDR for a more vibrant and detailed viewing experience.
Lastly, Samsung’s proprietary security system, Samsung Knox, has also taken up AI to enhance the Galaxy S24 Series’ security features. The new flagships now have Advance Intelligence settings that can disable online data processing for a more secure Internet experience.
