"Jam" with your Squad Now – Spotify Makes Way For A More Powerful Collaborative Listening Session

What’s a greater love language than sharing your favourite music?

If there’s anything people would love and enjoy, it’ll be connecting over music. So starting September 27, Spotify has upped their game by introducing Jam, their latest personalised, real-time listening session for your group to tune into together.

Jam, just as the name suggests, allows you and your friends to craft your squad’s very own personalised music playlist that you can jam together. It is built on some of their popular social features such as Blend and Collaborative Playlist, both of which merge Spotify's best personalization capabilities with collaborative playlist functionality into a single shared playlist.

How Jam works is actually pretty simple. Premium users everywhere just need to pick a playlist or song that resonates with their mood. Then they'll spot the "Start a Jam" button, either by clicking the speaker icon at the bottom of their screen or accessing the three-dot menu within their favourite playlist or song. Once these steps are completed, it's time to extend those invitations to close friends and family– basically those who do not judge your music taste– and get the groove moving.

Should your group ever run out of music choices that fit everyone’s taste, Jam will help you find the perfect songs to add to the queue. Here's how it works: it will find the overlaps in your listening preferences to deliver music recommendations that everyone will love. Plus, you’ll have the ability to see who’s added which track so you know whom to thank for that crowd-pleaser. Whether from the same room or across the world, every crowd is welcome.

With this fun addition, the days of a single person dictating your group's music choices are finally over. Instead, you can have a dynamic ensemble of up to ten, twenty, or even thirty-two participants infusing life into your playlist. Just remember to renew your subscription if it's due and ensure your app is up-to-date, and you're all set to dive into the musical festivities.
