Private Share
Sharing private information can sometimes be anxiety-inducing, especially in a world where wireless — or even wired — connections are so prone to outside attacks. With Private Share, though, you needn’t worry about getting your sensitive information leaked involuntarily, as you’ll be able to choose who sees your stuff when sending a file and restrict your recipients from forwarding the info to others.
If you have information that absolutely should not be shared, place them in the Secure Folder for safekeeping. The Secure Folder is password-protected at all times so that you and only you can access the hidden apps and files.
New Security and Privacy Dashboard
The last OneUI 5.0 update saw the merger of the security menu and personal information menu to make the new Security and Privacy Dashboard, making it easier for users to manage their own data safety.
The new Security and Privacy Dashboard ensures allows you to access your Lock Screen, Accounts, App Security, Updates, Biometrics, Secure Folder, and Private Share, all on the same page, along with the safety status of each of these settings.
Besides that, the Permission Manager has also been moved to the Dashboard under Privacy, allowing Galaxy users to manage mic and camera apps for certain applications. The updated UI also revokes permissions for dormant and unused apps for greater security.
Message Guard
Message Guard is a new feature on the One UI 5.1 that was first seen on the Galaxy S23 series. It’s Samsung’s latest security feature that offers end-to-end protection across hardware and software and real-time threat detection.
It basically identifies and isolates invisible threats disguised as image attachments so that they don’t affect the rest of the device. It runs silently in the background without requiring manual activation, so all Galaxy devices running OneUI 5.1 or higher are automatically protected!
Cybersecurity is a primary concern for all who use smart devices, especially with near-daily news of scams and cyber attacks. With these features, Samsung has taken great steps in ensuring peace of mind for all Galaxy users.
The OneUI 5.1 was announced alongside the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Series. The flagship smartphones has shipped with the latest UI update; other eligible Galaxy devices will be receiving the update soon as well.
