How to use a laminate machine?
If you’re not sure how to use the laminate machine in your office or you have recently bought one, fear not as the device is fairly straightforward. Even though different machines might have different operations, here are the most basic steps:
1. Heat the machine
Switch on the laminate machine and wait for it to heat up. Most machines have a built-in indicator light to inform you when it’s warmed up. The process can take around 30 seconds to 15 minutes, mainly depending on the machine size.
2. Loading the pouch
Lamination pouches come in a variety of sizes. You’ll need to get an appropriate one that covers your document AND fit into the laminate machine. If your project/document is small, choose a smaller pouch so you don’t waste too much unnecessary material. Adjust the temperature and speed to match the thickness of your pouch.
Place your paper into the pouch. Feed the pouch into the rolling part of the machine as straight as you can, starting from the folded edge of the pouch. Make sure you do this slowly and steadily as you won’t want to move the paper inside.
3. Trimming
Normally, the lamination process takes a minute or two and you are advised to let the page cool before trimming it. Always remember to leave a little of the plain lamination around the outer edge of your paper as the seal will hold better this way.
