So Our Video Editors Had a ‘Friendly’ COD Battle. Guess Who Won?

Featuring the BenQ EX3210U and EX2710U.

Ah, the age old question of PC versus Console. If you don’t know already, our twin video hosts in the company couldn’t be more different from each other; Tarvin never bulges from his PC supremacy while Umar stood his ground for Consoles.

Since the very beginning, the pair have been at each other’s neck when it comes to the topic (and some others, like iOS versus Android, but that’s a story for another day). So, I (the writer) actually suggested that they settle their differences on the topic via a few rounds of Call of Duty.

Why Not Have Fun And Get Paid?

Well, we’re all content creators, so I figured it would be fantastic to immortalize this as a video and use this opportunity as an excuse to borrow a pair of BenQ’s great Mobiuz monitors. The result was, amusing, to say the least.

All fun and games aside, this is not the first time we’ve experienced the BenQ Mobiuz series of monitors, and we stand by our opinion that these are one of the most well-rounded entertainment/gaming monitors on the market.

All-in-One Package

“Jack of all trades, master of none” would be the best way we can describe the two BenQ monitors we used - the 32” EX3210U and 27” EX2710U. Both monitors have very similar specifications, the only difference being the size.

The Panels

Both monitors come with a DisplayHDR 600 certified, 4K panel that is 144hz capable right out of the box. That makes the monitor one of the few rare panels capable of driving 144hz in 4K, assuming you have a behemoth of a PC to drive that many frames.

We are pretty satisfied with the HDR performance of this monitor. But we have to say that without local dimming zones, it will never be able to achieve the highly coveted true blacks for a true cinematic experience.

Still, their HDRi technology did really help to balance the colours for a much better experience compared to other HDR 600 monitors out there.

Colour-wise, the 98% coverage of DCI P3 means the panel is colour accurate enough for most entertainment purposes, and even light professional work, you know, like creating videos for YouTube.

Console Must Have

Most importantly, we picked this monitor precisely because it is one of the first few monitors in the market that comes with HDMI 2.1 ports. That’s probably pointless for you PCMR people, but absolutely important for Playstation users, as we wouldn’t be able to make full use of the PS5’s 4K 120hz capabilities otherwise.

Conveniently, the monitor also comes with a remote so you don’t have to reach out to change sources every time you want to fire up your PS5 while your PC is still turned on. Don’t worry PCMRers, there’s one DisplayPort 1.4 for you. No USB-C for you Apple elitists though.

A Sound Choice

The built-in Trevelo speakers can never come close to a pair of good speakers, but I’ll say this; it’s the best sound you’ll ever get from a monitor in the market. I mean, the monitor even has a built-in noise-canceling microphone so you can keep your desk clean of clutter.

I really hate visible cables on my battlestation, okay. Don’t judge!

Personally, I own studio headphones for great sound, wireless gaming headphones for multiplayer gaming, and I use the built-in speakers when I watch ProductNation videos.

Quality of Life

True to their “jack of all trades” reputation; the EX3210U and EX2710U monitors had several bunch of quality-of-life features. Some, you can find on competing gaming monitors, and some others rarer.

I personally cannot live without the USB hub from the monitor, since I plug in all the dongles for my wireless keyboard, mouse, as well as my webcam through the back with one extra port to spare.

Of course, as mentioned, the monitors also come with a remote for easy OSD access when you’re lounging and too lazy to move forward to change sources or settings.

I can’t say much for the stand, as I prefer mounting my monitors through my desk for that ultimate clean battlestation. But it should be satisfactory as the monitors have sufficient adjustability for height, swivel and tilt.

Conclusion

Ultimately, if you’re looking for a monitor that does absolutely everything perfectly, I have to tell you that such a monitor doesn’t exist at the moment. However, BenQ’s EX3210U and EX2710U are very, very close.
