This Youtuber Said That Shampoos Are The Cause of Dandruff?!

Are shampoos a lie???

Have you ever thought about if a shampoo’s only purpose is to clean your hair and nothing more?

What if those commercials that preached the heroic acts of shampoos such as adding volume to your hair, prevent greasiness or even, ‘get rid’ of dandruff... are not true?

Are shampoos only acting as a placebo and that you’re blindly purchasing them because it’s a societal norm, all of which becomes easy profit for ‘scheming’ brands?

This Youtuber has a theory that’ll make you rethink using shampoos.

TLDR: The Youtuber experienced a dry flaky scalp and resorted to giving an infamous dandruff shampoo brand a try. He refrained from using other brands of shampoo for the fear of messing with his scalp, at least not till his scalp could get a taste of the anti-dandruff antidote.

However, his shampoo did not arrive on time and it resulted in a month of not washing his hair with shampoo. This led to a discovery that amazed him.

He realized that his flaky itchy scalp issue was gone. In fact, his scalp and hair actually got healthier!

It is understandable to feel perturbed when you catch sight of those white specks of dust (to clarify, we’re talking about dandruff) on your clothes.

And it brings the pride down, especially if you tend to spend a lot on the best shampoos to eradicate such issues that can turn into a social nightmare!

What causes dandruff?

This flaky confetti - dandruff, is typically caused by an irritated and oily scalp, known as seborrheic dermatitis. Sometimes, it can also be due to a yeast condition, called Malassezia, which irritates the scalp and in turn, cause excess growth of skin cells.

So, should you shampoo your scalp/hair?

If you think that your shampoo is the cause, think again. Dandruff occurs due to a lack of thorough cleaning such as shampooing. It’s the accumulation of oil and dead skin cells that causes dandruff.

So it’s actually fine to cleanse your scalp with shampoo or just water. The next time you are stocking up your shelf, you may want to streamline to just 1 or 2 brands.

Usage of multiple products can lead to contact dermatitis, which then leads to a red and itchy scalp that’ll cause dandruff.

What is the best way to treat dandruff?

The trick is to shampoo thoroughly, and you are free to skip a day or two of washing. After all, natural oils on your scalp are not a bad thing. They keep your scalp and hair moisturized as healthily as possible.

You just need to take care not to over-shampoo your hair so you do not strip off the natural oils that give shine to your mane. We do not want to have dull hair now, do we?
