If you’re old enough, you’ll remember the flip phones of yore (circa 2000s). Now, they’re back with a vengeance, smarter than ever – and yes, we’re talking about the recently released Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4.
It’s not exactly a brand new thing, being in the fourth generation and all, but it certainly brings innovation and style to a world where “all smartphones look the same”. We’re not the only ones who think that.
Just recently, our resident video editor, Umar, took to the streets and asked random Malaysians what they think about the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4.

Umar gave the Flip4 to random people he found while walking around in Kuala Lumpur, and asked them what they thought about the phone.
One respondent liked the Cover Display that allows users to take selfies using the rear camera, which produces much better results since the dual rear camera on the Flip4 comes in a 12MP Ultra Wide and 12 MP Wide-angle complete with OIS.
A couple of ladies loved the fact that no tripods or phone stands are needed to take photos and videos on the Flip4 – just place it on the table half-opened and snap away! For this reason, they also think that the Flip4 is a great device for content creators.
In terms of design, to quote one respondent, “it looks like a fun phone to have, like a phone with a great personality.”
Ladies who know the struggle of having too-small pockets will agree with this: most of the respondents loved the fact that the Flip4 is small and compact. Users are able to fold into half the size of a regular smartphone and slip it right into their pockets. “It’s more portable than the usual phone”, as one of them so concisely puts it.
Another interesting take: one guy commented that the folded design actually protects the phone’s screen from scratches since it’s folded away and not exposed to the jingly bits that you may have in your pocket or your purse.
Productivity won some hearts too, as the Flip4 can run multiple apps on its split screen feature at the same time. One respondent “really, really like opening different apps at the same time”. Some people really make the most of their day, eh?
Finally, Umar also met a gamer who had no qualms about testing the phone right then and there. Evidently, his experience did not disappoint, as he feels that it’s exactly what he needs. The gamer ultimately announced that he’d buy it.
