With the second week of the fasting season dawning on us, the spirit of good will of Ramadhan stretches over to our good will to our tummies and ensuring we are well fed when the sun sets. So go ahead and treat yourself because Hotel Maya Kuala Lumpur has a Buka Puasa spread that is worth salivating over! And all this in the heart of the city itself.
The one month long Ramadhan Warisan Delights spread is made up of a whole line-up of sweet and savoury dishes served home-styled Ala Kampung. Before we got to eat to our heart's content, our eyes first got the treat of feasting on the colourfulness of the Ulam-Ulam Kampung. The Mamak Corner Special had dishes such as Kambing Masak Varuval and Ketam Masak Kuning while the Steam Basket Corner served traditional dishes such as Ketupat Panas and Lemang Pulut Putih, best enjoyed with Chicken Rendang and Serunding Daging.

The spread extends to the foyer of Maya Brasserie where patrons will also be able to find Roti Canai, Murtabak, Rojak, Apam Balik and a variety of deep fried fritters - pretty much all our local favourites! At the back lobby of the hotel, guests can also tuck into shavings of barbecued lamb alongside a variety of other meats.
As we ate, a traditional band played in the background, giving us an experience that felt truly authentic. Our favourite dishes were the Ayam Masak Kurma, Rendang and Roti John.
For desserts, we were spoilt for choice with the vast array of kuih-muih available. Cakes were also great in variety! We especially loved the mini tarts and wish we had space to taste everything. Thankfully, it isn't too difficult to drop by Hotel Maya for another visit soon.
