Spotify's bringing back DJs with a futuristic twist!
Their AI-powered DJ feature allows Spotify Premium users to actually talk to the AI and request music based on their mood, genre preference, or even what they're doing. It's like having a personal DJ in your pocket, ready to curate the perfect soundtrack in real-time.
Spotify DJ - Now With Ears (and a Microphone!)
Spotify's AI DJ, which uses artificial intelligence and insights from their music experts, was already pretty slick at serving up personalised mixes, helping you discover new tunes and revisit old favourites.
But now, they've cranked it up a notch. Premium users can now use their voice to tell the DJ what kind of music they're in the mood for.
How To Command Your AI DJ
First, head to the search tab in the Spotify app and search for "DJ". Hit play, and the AI will start serving up its personalised playlist with its signature commentary.
When you want to switch things up, just press and hold the DJ button located in the bottom right corner. You'll hear a beep, which means the DJ is ready to listen to your command. Just speak your request clearly, and the AI will update your session based on what you asked for, your listening history, and your music preferences. Feeling like some chill indie you've never heard? Just ask! You can even get specific with moods like "cry-in-the-car songs".
Want to change the vibe again? Just hold down that DJ button and make another request. If you're not sure what you want, a quick tap of the DJ button will skip to the next section.
Not Available in Malaysia...Yet
The feature is currently only available for Premium users in the US and Canada, as well as some parts in Europe, Africa, Australia, and New Zealand.
For Malaysian listeners, we'll just have to settle with our friends playing DJ in the car with Jams and building our playlists manually song-by-song.
