Qualcomm has announced the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 Mobile Platform, the company's latest mid-range powerhouse.
This new chipset will bring significant performance boosts across the board, powering and enhancing features like advanced AI, enhanced gaming, and improved camera capabilities to more affordable smartphones.
Devices from brands like HONOR and vivo are also expected as early adopt of this chipset.
Across-the-Board Performance Gains
The Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 is designed to deliver a noticeable upgrade in performance. With it, Qualcomm claims a 27% increase in CPU performance and a 30% faster GPU for smoother graphics rendering.
But the most impressive leap is a remarkable 65% improvement in AI performance. This means your next mid-range phone could handle tasks like image processing, gaming, and AI-powered features much more efficiently.
On-Device Gen AI Capabilities
A standout feature of the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 is its advanced on-device AI capabilities. Instead of going on the cloud, Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 is capable of running Gen AI assistants and popular large language models (LLMs) directly on the device.
The chipset also introduces new-in-series stable diffusion image generation, allowing for AI-powered image creation right on your phone. This opens up more possibilities for intelligent features and personalized experiences without relying solely on the cloud, or for the fear of personal information being leaked.
Enhanced Multimedia Experiences
The Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 is designed to boost your multimedia experiences, whether in creation or consumption.
It boasts new camera capabilities, now having advanced image processing to capture images with greater clarity and detail. For gamers, the chipset provides select Snapdragon Elite Gaming™ features, promising action-packed gameplay with smoother frame rates and optimized performance.
Qualcomm has also confirmed leading OEMs like HONOR and vivo to be among the first to adopt the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 in their upcoming devices. We can expect to see more new mid-range smartphones coming in, to be announced this month (May 2025), powered by the new platform.
