Belkin Charging Pad vs Charging Stand

Belkin BoostCharge 3-in-1 Magnetic Charging Pad vs. BoostCharge Pro Convertible Magnetic Charging Stand: Which One Should I Get?

Tl;dr, both charges well, but it depends on what you really need!

MagSafe wireless charging is possibly one of the most amazing features on the iPhone, in my opinion, a close second to AirDrop. My current iPhone 15 is my first-ever iPhone, and after almost a year with it, I don’t think I can go back to a phone without Magsafe wireless charging.

For the uninitiated, MagSafe wireless charging uses magnets to align the phone with the charger so it ensures that the phone is in the right position to charge. Without the magnets, you’d have to put in a bit of guesswork to position the phone properly for charging. And plus, the magnets hold up the phone, meaning your phone is pretty much levitating off the surface of your table if you have the right charging stand.

Which brings us to the point of this article: Magsafe chargers. I’ve always preferred Belkin’s wireless chargers and iPhone 15 accessories, which are both aesthetically pleasing and fully compatible with the iPhone 15. This time, I’m back to review two of their popular options: the BoostCharge 3-in-1 Magnetic Charging Pad and the BoostCharge Pro Convertible Magnetic Qi2 Charging Stand. Quite a mouthful, aren’t they?

Both are exceptional, but they target slightly different users, so let’s explore these two chargers, considering everything from design to user experience.

Design and Portability

BoostCharge Pro 3-in-1 Magnetic Wireless Charging Pad

The first thing that caught my attention with this charging pad is its flat, sleek design. It’s compact and packs easily into a travel bag. However, the slight trade-off is its weight. At 310g, it’s heavier than you’d expect for something that seems so slim.

However, that added heft gives it stability. I’ve found that once it’s placed on my desk or nightstand, it’s not going anywhere, no matter how much you fumble with it. Plus, the slim profile is a win for travellers or anyone with limited space, as it’s easy to slide into bag compartments without any fuss.

BoostCharge Pro Convertible Magnetic Qi2 Charging Stand

The Convertible Qi2 Charging Stand, on the other hand, offers versatility in design that I really appreciate. You can use it flat like a traditional pad, but it also converts into a stand.

Most of the time, it’s set it up next to my computer to keep my phone upright for easy viewing. It’s noticeably lighter and more compact than the 3-in-1 pad when folded flat, which makes it an even better companion for travel.

Charging Capabilities

BoostCharge Pro 3-in-1 Magnetic Wireless Charging Pad

This is where the 3-in-1 pad pulls ahead: if you’re juggling multiple devices, you can simultaneously charge your iPhone on the MagSafe-compatible 15W pad, AirPods on the 5W pad, and an Apple Watch with the included dongle.

What I love about this setup is the flexibility. The USB-C port for the Watch charger can also be used with another USB-C cable to charge something else if needed. I tested it with a spare USB-C to USB-C cable to top up my Kobo ebook while still charging my other devices—it worked like a charm.

The Apple Watch dongle itself is a pretty neat feature. When I’m on the go, I sometimes just take the dongle along to charge my Watch using my iPhone 15—or a power bank with a USB-C port. It’s tiny and doesn’t take up much space.

So, If you’re deeply embedded in Apple’s ecosystem, this 3-in-1 solution simplifies things significantly.

BoostCharge Pro Convertible Magnetic Qi2 Charging Stand

The Qi2 Charging Stand, by contrast, is more focused. It’s designed to charge a single device using the MagSafe 15W Qi2 pad, which is perfect for an iPhone.

I found it ideal for use on a desk where I want to glance at my screen without having to pick up the phone constantly. However, the lack of additional ports or pads means it’s less versatile if you’re trying to charge multiple devices at once.

Then again, it’s a convertible stand, which means it also transforms into a charging pad that is much smaller than the 3-in-1 Pad, making it even more portable and adjustable. If you’re not fussed about charging other devices, then this would be much traveller-friendly.

IRL Experience

The 3-in-1 Pad is definitely for travelling because it takes care of all of my electronic devices in one go without having to fuss with multiple wires and chargers.

Just a tip: the QI-compatible chargers actually charge more than just Apple products. If your device supports wireless charging, then the Pad will work too, which is a godsend for tech reviewers like me who always have multiple phones on hand.

This pad is definitely aimed at people who need to keep several devices powered up simultaneously.

On the other hand, the Convertible Qi2 Stand is more of a daytime workspace saver for me. The adjustable design means I can easily prop my phone up while working, and I don’t have to reach for my phone to check messages or notifications.

If you’re less concerned with charging multiple gadgets and more focused on convenient phone access, this stand is a great option. I can see it being a hit for anyone who spends a lot of time at their desk.

Conclusion

If I had to sum it up, I’d say the BoostCharge 3-in-1 Magnetic Charging Pad is best for those with multiple Apple devices who need a streamlined, travel-friendly solution. It’s not just versatile but offers thoughtful features like the detachable Watch charger, which adds a lot of convenience.

The BoostCharge Pro Convertible Magnetic Qi2 Charging Stand is perfect if you’re more of a minimalist who values an upright stand for your phone. Its ability to fold flat makes it excellent for travel, but its real strength lies in keeping your phone accessible while charging, especially in a work environment.

Ultimately, it comes down to what you prioritise: the convenience of charging multiple devices or the versatility of a convertible stand with easy access to your phone. Personally, I’ve found value in both, depending on where I am and what I need at the moment.
