TikTok Launches Friends-Only Photo Sharing App Called "Whee" In Selected Countries

However, you'll need a TikTok account to log in.

Whee, a fresh photo-sharing app from TikTok, was silently introduced in some nations, such as Malaysia. It can now be downloaded on both Apple App Store and Google Play Store, with iOS as well as Android devices being supported, respectively.

Although TikTok notes were quite similar in concept, the newer app from ByteDance, which is also affiliated with the same company, differs by being simpler and more private: it’s simpler because the newsfeed is restricted to friends while others cannot see your posts; besides, there are little or no features on Whee at present except taking selfies (to which one cannot add text below), changing pictures themselves through various filters available on this service, leaving messages directly under images uploaded here, or talking via comments + communicating in personal chat mode like other individuals belonging here in their community.

Primarily, Whee displays photos shared by friends that you follow on your feed, according to TikTok. However, who knows if it will adopt the algorithm of its mother network and start pushing content by itself, or even show advertisements at some point? The idea that this might still happen is not that unbelievable, if we are honest.

In order to log in, one must first have a TikTok account, and there isn’t any provision to register directly through the app. So if a user is not yet signed up on the main site, then they will need to head there or download an application where they can do so.

Starting from scratch on Whee means that you’re going to start afresh. Currently, there’s no way to move your list of friends, follows, or followers from TikTok into the app. It is possible that it recommends accounts that you know or have interacted with at a higher level to facilitate onboarding.
