2023 looks like it’s going to be a booming year for foldables, and OPPO has just started off the chain reaction with the release of their brand new OPPO Find N2 Flip, a clamshell foldable that features no gap, no crease, and a large cover screen.
The no-gap, no-crease design was first seen in the OPPO Find N2 that impressed us last year, but that phone wasn’t officially released in Malaysia. This year, though, the OPPO Find N2 Flip will be available in Malaysia at RM3,999.
OPPO has kindly provided us with a review unit of the Find N2 Flip, and I’m not kidding when I say everyone in the office wants their turn with it. I managed to get my hands on it for a day, so here’s my first impression of the OPPO Find N2 Flip!

Display & Design
Many phone manufacturers seem to have jumped onto the purple bandwagon, and as a purple lover, I have no complaints. Our OPPO Find N2 Flip review unit was in a sweet lilac colour dubbed Moonlit Purple by the brand. The smooth and glossy finish makes the phone nice to hold, but it’s annoyingly prone to fingerprints.
Like all clamshell foldables, the Find N2 Flip folds down into a rectangle about the size of my palm. It’s a nice compact size that fits into just about any pocket. There’s no gap in between the folded screens at all, giving the phone a neat, uniform look thanks to the Flexion Hinge. Plus, it’s also one of the slimmest foldables I’ve seen yet.
The Find N2 Flip’s Cover Screen was truly a game-changer, and undeniably my favourite part of the phone. Where most foldables of its kind have smaller screens capable of only showing icons and notifications, the 3.26” AMOLED Cover Screen gives you so much screen real estate that you’re able to do so much more with it; more on that later.
The phone unfolds into a 6.8” AMOLED Main Screen, which is a standard smartphone size. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the crease was barely visible on the foldable main screen — in fact, it’s pretty much unnoticeable if you’re looking at the phone straight on.
Camera
The Find N2 Flip sports a dual rear camera comprising a 50MP wide-angle camera and an 8MP ultra-wide camera. The 32MP front camera is equipped with a Sony IMX709 RGBW sensor. All this hardware is supported by OPPO’s own MariSilicon X Imaging NPU, which is famed for its super-efficient AI computing power.
Our quick snaps with the Find N2 Flip did not disappoint. Thanks to the Hasselblad partnership, the colours are well-balanced, bright, and detailed; it’s no Reno, but still decent.
Of course, as a foldable phone, the Find N2 Flip is capable of FlexForm Photography too. It stands on its own perfectly well, so you can take hands-free photos whenever and however you want, or hold the phone like a traditional DV recorder.
The Cover Screen allows you to take photos and videos without having to unfold the phone. And I must say, it’s so much easier to take photos on a larger cover screen, as I could actually see how the photo turns out in the end instead of having to squint at a tiny image of myself and praying for the best. The same goes for the Dual Screen Preview feature — the preview is so much more useful when you can actually see your face on the screen.
Performance & Features
I’m sorry to say that this is where the OPPO Find N2 Flip fell a little short of my expectations. It sports the Mediatek Dimensity 9000+ processor and the Mali G710 GPU. It ran regular smartphone tasks like browsing and watching videos or even playing casual games fine, but any more graphically challenging than that will make the phone start to stutter a little. I tried to play PUBG on the Find N2 Flip — it was playable, but a little frustrating.
The split-screen multitasking capabilities went untested, simply because I couldn’t figure out how to do it in time. I’d say that the UI was a little unintuitive, but then again, I only had the phone for a day and ColorOS is not an OS I am used to.
Finally, the Find N2 Flip features 44W SUPERVOOC fast charging, so it was able to juice up pretty quickly, going from 32% to 100% in less than an hour.
Conclusion
OPPO says the Find N2 Flip “sets a new benchmark for flip phones”, and we really couldn’t agree more — at least where design is concerned. I do still think that its performance could be improved a little, but overall, it’s a decent phone for everyday use.
