Honor Magic V5 Secures Global Debut on July 15, 2025

Slimmer, stronger, smarter

Honor has confirmed that its record-thin Magic V5 foldable smartphone will take the stage in Kuala Lumpur on 15 July, barely a fortnight after its Chinese premiere, signalling the company’s most ambitious push yet into overseas markets. Touted as the world’s slimmest and lightest book-style foldable, the handset measures just 8.8 mm when shut (4.1 mm open) and weighs about 217 g, elbowing aside rivals such as Oppo’s Find N5 and Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7. Inside the svelte frame sits Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite, helped by up to 16 GB of RAM, while a novel silicon-carbon battery allows Honor to squeeze in as much as 6,100 mAh without thickening the chassis.

Early adopters can look forward to a pair of adaptive-refresh LTPO OLED displays—an external 6.43-inch panel optimised for one-handed use and a nearly square 7.95-inch canvas for multitasking—both clad in Honor’s King Kong protective glass and rated for peak brightness north of 1,300 nits. A circular rear camera island packs a 50 MP main shooter with OIS, a 50 MP autofocusing ultrawide, and a 64 MP periscope telephoto good for 3× optical zoom, while twin 20 MP punch-hole cameras handle selfies on either screen. Other creature comforts include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, stereo speakers, IP58/59 ingress protection and 66 W wired plus 50 W wireless charging. Chinese pricing starts at CNY 8,999 (≈ US$1,256) for 12 GB + 256 GB, with global pricing to be unwrapped at launch; Honor hints that broader Asia-Pacific and European roll-outs will follow soon after.
