Vivo has quietly introduced the Y400 4G to the Indonesian market, aiming to give first-time smartphone buyers a taste of premium features without the premium price tag.

Flagship looks, hard-wearing build

Despite its budget positioning, the Y400 4G wears a sleek mirror-finish back and—unusually for this class—carries IP68 and IP69 ratings. That means it’s not only dust-tight but can also survive high-pressure water jets, making it one of the toughest phones in the entry segment.

Smooth & bright viewing

Up front sits a 6.67-inch FHD⁺ AMOLED panel with a buttery-smooth 120 Hz refresh rate and a searing 1,800-nit peak brightness—great for outdoor use. The screen also covers the full DCI-P3 color gamut, promising punchy visuals for movies and games.

Solid mid-range horsepower

Under the hood is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 685 (6 nm, 2.8 GHz) paired with an Adreno 610 GPU. While hardly a flagship chip in 2025, the 6 nm process keeps power draw low and thermals in check, which should translate into all-day performance for typical social, streaming and light-gaming tasks.

Battery built to go the distance

A massive 6,000 mAh battery anchors the device, backed by 44 W USB-C fast charging so a quick top-up gets you back in the game fast. vivo claims a full day—and then some—of use on a single charge thanks to the efficient chipset-display combo.

Cameras that cover the basics

Photography duties are handled by a 50 MP Sony IMX852 main sensor plus a 2 MP depth helper for cleaner portraits. There’s no ultrawide lens, but the main cam should suffice for casual snaps, social posts and 1080 p video capture.

Software & colour options

Running Funtouch OS 15 on top of Android 15, the handset ships in two fresh finishes—Purple Twilight and Tropical Green—further helping it stand out in the budget crowd.

Price & availability

Vivo has yet to reveal pricing or a broader release timeline. Given past Y-series launches, expect the Y400 4G to expand across Southeast Asia in the coming weeks with an aggressive sub-USD 200 target price.

Why it matters

With many brands downgrading displays and durability to hit lower price points, the Y400 4G shows there’s still room for high-refresh AMOLED panels and flagship-grade sealing under the USD 200 line. For regions where 5 G infrastructure remains limited, offering a refined 4 G handset like this could be exactly what budget-minded consumers need.
