Huawei has rolled out its Pura 80 family in Bangkok, putting the spotlight on a new camera trick the firm calls the world’s first switchable dual telephoto system.

A Camera First for Mobile
Dual focal lengths in one lens: The flagship Pura 80 Ultra houses both 3.7× (83 mm) and 9.4× (212 mm) optical zoom paths on a single, super‑sized 1/1.28‑inch sensor, achieved through a 143‑component prism and lens group. Tough second‑gen Kunlun Glass: Huawei claims 25× better drop resistance and 16× greater scratch protection over last year’s iteration. New XMAGE goodies: Ultra Lighting HDR and Night Zoom demos underscored crisper low‑light shots and faster focusing at long range.

Price Check & Philippine Timeline
Huawei’s Thai sticker prices convert to around ₱68,800 for the Pura 80 Pro (THB 38,990) and ₱88,300 for the Pura 80 Ultra (THB 49,990). The company confirmed a Philippine launch on 7 August 2025, with local bundles to be revealed shortly.
Why It Matters
For Filipino mobile photographers who juggle landscape panoramas with far‑off concert snaps, the Pura 80 Ultra’s moving‑prism design could slash the need for multiple rear cameras—freeing space and potentially improving light capture. Combined with beefier Kunlun Glass and rapid 100 W SuperCharge, Huawei aims to reclaim imaging bragging rights in a fiercely competitive flagship field.
