Event Overview

Returning for its third—and largest—edition, the Philippine GameDev Expo (PGDX) will take over the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City from 25 to 27 July 2025. Jointly organized by the Game Developers Association of the Philippines and events outfit CBZN Perspective, the show now counts the Department of Trade and Industry’s CREATE Philippines program as an official partner, underscoring the government's resolve to grow game development from a mainly outsourcing service into a bona fide creative-IP export sector. A refreshed business-matching lounge, powered by CREATEPhilippines, will facilitate seated meetings between local studios, foreign publishers, investors, and technology vendors across the three-day fair.

Show Highlights

Attendees can expect an expanded indie game showcase featuring fan favourites such as Water Delivery, Craggenrock, and Oh, Crops! alongside brand-new prototypes that invite live player feedback. A rebuilt “Biz Matching Platform 2.0” lets visitors preschedule appointments via web or mobile, while a career pavilion offers daily mentoring sessions and portfolio reviews from industry veterans like Secret 6 visual-effects supervisor Joshua Gabriel Fenix and game design pioneer Luna Javier. Beyond the show floor, workshops on intellectual-property strategy, funding, and export readiness aim to equip start-ups with the skills needed to pitch original content on the global stage.

Industry Impact

Momentum for Philippine game creation has never been stronger: the domestic market has grown for nine consecutive years and is forecast to surpass US $2.6 billion by 2027, while local studios collectively secured more than US $9 million in publishing deals at Nordic Game 2024. Organizers believe this year’s PGDX can double that figure by linking talent with capital and providing clearer pathways to international distribution. Early-bird tickets—single-day, student, and full-event bundles—are on sale through PGDX.ph, with walk-in gamers welcomed by cosplay parades, e-sports showmatches, and hands-on demo stations throughout the weekend.
