Huawei has brought its new camera-focused flagships to Malaysia, and the headline number is a big one: a 200MP telephoto camera on the top model. The Pura 90s Series arrived at a global launch event in Kuala Lumpur on 14 July 2026, alongside the FreeClip 2 S open-ear earbuds and the MatePad Air tablet.

What the Huawei Pura 90s Series offers
The line-up splits into two phones. The Pura 90s Pro Max leads with a 200MP Ultra Large Sensor telephoto camera built around a 1/1.28-inch RYYB sensor, with 4x optical zoom, optical image stabilisation and 20x HEX telephoto video. Huawei pairs it with an Ultra Lighting HDR camera for brighter results in tricky light.
The Pura 90s Pro takes a different angle with an Ultra Lighting Macro telephoto camera that focuses from as close as 5cm, plus an Ultra Lighting main camera for everyday shots. Both phones also lean on a second-generation True-to-Colour camera for more accurate colour across lighting conditions.
AI tools and software
On the software side, the Pura 90s Series adds a set of AI photo features: AI Composition suggests framing, AI De-Glare cuts reflections when shooting through glass, AI Remove clears unwanted objects, AI Move lets you reposition subjects in the gallery, and AI Best Expression picks the best face from a burst of group shots. The phones run EMUI 16, based on Android 16, with the Celia AI assistant and the Huawei AppGallery store on board.
Design and battery
Colour choices differ by model. The Pro Max comes in Orange Ocean, Blaze Purple, Blush Gold and Graphite Black, with the Orange Ocean version adding a dual-tone gradient mid-frame. The Pro arrives in Guava Soda, Orange Soda, Mulberry Black and Coconut White. Both carry a 6000mAh battery, though charging differs: 100W wired SuperCharge on the Pro Max and 66W on the Pro. The Pro Max also uses anti-reflection, scratch-resistant Kunlun Glass.
Malaysia price and availability
The Pura 90s Series is open for pre-order from RM3,699 after rebate. You can order through Huawei Experience Stores, the Huawei official website, the Huawei official store on Shopee, the Huawei flagship store on Lazada and the Huawei official TikTok Shop. Pre-orders come with bundled gifts worth up to RM3,076, including a voucher worth up to RM400, a mystery gift worth RM999, and a Premium Service package worth RM1,677 that covers one year of accidental damage protection, one year of free battery replacement, a regional warranty, screen protector replacements and one-to-one VIP service.
Alongside the phones, the FreeClip 2 S open-ear earbuds are available now at RM899 in Deepsea Blue and Space Silver, with gifts worth up to RM318. The MatePad Air rounds out the trio with a 5.3mm body and an OLED PaperMatte display aimed at work and content creation.
The takeaway
If your phone shortlist is really a camera shortlist, the Pura 90s Pro Max makes a clear pitch with its 200MP telephoto reach, while the Pro leans into close-up work. With pre-order gifts stacked on top, the value for Malaysian buyers comes down to how much you use that long lens.
