PRISM+ has appointed Malaysian-born Jonathan Wong as its new Chief Executive Officer, marking a major leadership shift as the fast-growing consumer electronics brand prepares for its next phase of expansion.

The move comes as PRISM+ continues to scale its presence in Southeast Asia and expand its portfolio beyond displays into smart home appliances and connected home technology.

Founder Jonathan Tan will transition into the role of Executive Chairman, focusing on long-term strategy, research, and product innovation, while Wong will lead day-to-day operations and regional growth.

From Display Brand to Smart Home Ecosystem

PRISM+ first gained recognition as a display specialist, producing value-driven TVs and monitors. Since entering the Malaysian market in 2020, the company has expanded aggressively into:

  • smart TVs
  • air conditioners
  • washers and vacuums
  • other smart home appliances

These products are designed to work within a single PRISM+ app ecosystem, positioning the brand as a connected home technology provider rather than just a hardware manufacturer.

Rapid Growth in Malaysia

Malaysia has become a key market for PRISM+. Since launching locally, the company reports consistent double-digit year-on-year growth and a steady expansion of its retail presence.

Today, the brand operates 10 retail outlets across major malls, including:

  • Sunway Pyramid
  • Sunway Velocity
  • IOI City Mall Putrajaya
  • Queensbay Mall
  • Setia City Mall
  • AEON Mall Tebrau City

PRISM+ is also preparing to open a new outlet at Imago Shopping Mall in Sabah, further strengthening its presence in East Malaysia.

For a brand that began primarily as an online direct-to-consumer business, this growing retail footprint signals a shift toward omnichannel expansion.

Why Jonathan Wong’s Appointment Matters

Wong brings experience from several high-growth companies, including:

  • Uber
  • CloudKitchens
  • Habyt

He has previously worked across investment banking, consulting and technology operations across Asia-Pacific, specialising in scaling businesses in emerging markets.

His role at PRISM+ will focus on:

  • product development
  • distribution strategy
  • regional business growth
  • ecosystem expansion across Asia Pacific

The appointment signals that PRISM+ is entering a more structured growth phase, transitioning from startup-style expansion to scaled regional operations.

The D2C Strategy That Built PRISM+

One of PRISM+’s defining strategies is its direct-to-consumer (D2C) model, which eliminates traditional retail middlemen.

This allows the company to offer products with competitive pricing while maintaining strong specifications and design quality.

For Malaysian consumers, this approach has helped the brand compete aggressively against established global electronics brands, particularly in categories like TVs and monitors.

What This Means for Malaysian Consumers

PRISM+’s leadership shift comes at a time when the company is rapidly expanding its smart home ecosystem.

If the strategy succeeds, Malaysians could see:

  • more interconnected home appliances
  • expanded product categories
  • deeper integration across devices
  • stronger after-sales and retail support

With rising interest in affordable smart home solutions, PRISM+ is positioning itself as a value-driven alternative to premium ecosystem brands.
