We’ve all been there: January 1st hits, the motivation is high, but by the second Friday of the month (lovingly known as "Quitter’s Day"), those fitness resolutions start looking more like "maybe next year" suggestions.

Well, Apple isn't letting you off the hook that easily. To kick off 2026, Apple has dropped a massive update for the Apple Watch and Fitness+, backed by some pretty impressive data that suggests your watch might actually be the secret to staying consistent.

Science Proves It! Apple Watch Users Actually Keep Moving

According to the latest Apple Heart and Movement Study, Apple Watch users are significantly better at beating the "Quitter’s Day" slump. The data shows that while most people drop off in mid-January, nearly 80% of Apple Watch users who increased their activity at the start of the year maintained those levels through the end of the month.

Even better? 90% of that group maintained momentum through February and March. If you need a little extra "push," you can also earn the Ring in the New Year limited-edition award by closing all three rings for seven days straight this month.

Fresh Programs to "Restart, Refocus, and Recommit"

Starting January 5, Apple Fitness+ is introducing four brand-new programs designed to take the guesswork out of your routine. Whether you're a seasoned pro or literally haven't touched a dumbbell in years, there’s something for you:

  • Make Your Fitness Comeback: A 4-week plan featuring 10-minute Strength, HIIT, and Yoga sessions. Perfect if you’re easing back into a routine.

  • Build a Yoga Habit in 4 Weeks: Two 10-minute flows per week to help with flexibility and stress—ideal for busy schedules.

  • Back-to-Back Strength & HIIT: A high-intensity 3-week program with 20-minute sessions (10 mins of each) designed to be done with zero breaks.

  • Strength Basics (Launching Jan 12): A 3-week course to help beginners master the fundamentals and build confidence in the gym.

Work Out with Bad Bunny and Penn Badgley

If the thought of another burpee makes you want to cry, the new Artist Spotlight series might change your mind. Get ready to sweat to full playlists from KAROL G and Bad Bunny (just in time for his Super Bowl LX Halftime Show performance).

If you prefer a long walk to clear your head, the Time to Walk series is back with new episodes featuring:

  • Penn Badgley (of You and Gossip Girl fame)

  • Mel B (yes, it's Scary Spice herself!)

  • Michelle Monaghan

Which Apple Watch is Right For You?

Thinking of upgrading to stay on track? Here’s the 2026 lineup and how much they’ll set you back in Malaysia:

Apple Watch SE 3 S10 Chip, Always-On Display, Fast Charging. Great value! RM 1,049
Apple Watch Series 11 Thinnest design, Hypertension notifications, 5G cellular. RM 1,799

With the new heart rate sensing on the AirPods Pro 3 and the tailored "Custom Plans" in Fitness+, Apple is making it more challenging than ever to find an excuse to stay on the couch. Whether you want to "Ring in the New Year" or simply get through January without quitting, the ecosystem is looking stronger than ever for 2026.
