Anker Nano Power Bank (10K, 45W) Review: A Safe & Reliable Charger I Can Forget About

At this point in life, I'm probably one of the rare-few tech reviewers that do not want to carry a powerbank for the sake of simplicity and to have less baggage when I go on about my daily life.

But when I do need one due to travelling and for working on the go, a tough power bank with a minimum of 10k mAh power is crucial. I do a lot of photography and video shooting on my phone, followed by editing, publishign and answering plain spam messages from colleagues.

So when I was given the opportunity to review the Anker Nano Power Bank, I was intrigued. It's the first one I had with an actual informative display.

Coems with a Handy, Durable Retractable Cord

From its namesake, this particular Nano Power Bank is notable for its sufficient 10,000mAh battery and high-speed 45W charging with a supremely travel-friendly form factor. Its defining feature is the retractable cable, which feels solid and does not tear easily. If you're an Android and iPhone 15 or later user, it solves the common problem of carrying extra cables.

Because I am unfortunately not a user of a USB C smartphone, so I had to carry an extra USB A to Lightning cable for my iPhone 14 Pro, which i can easily use on the power bank. It hardly added any weight (just more wires) for me, plus it also gives me insight into how good the retractable cable is compared to regular cables. Otherwise, it was pretty useful for other smartphones I had to work on when taking photos and videos in events.

A Cute Yet Compact & Useful Design

The Anker Nano Power Bank is a rectangular compact device, and can feel a little heavier than it seems. But when I compared it to my beloved Baseus 3-in-1 power bank, it did not feel any much different in weight. Perhaps because the Anker is smaller in size, weight becomes more dense overall. Nevertheless, it is still relatively portable and comfortable to carry around.

Upon unboxing, the power bank feels premium as well. With a smooth matte surface, the grip of this power bank is also solid, and comes with a phone strap you can easily secure around your fingers when you carry it with a phone. Though its cubic-esque rectangular shape does make it awkward to hold alongside my phone.

There's also a built-in under-display Smart Digital Display section that provides me with additional information about the battery capacity left, how long it'd take me to charge my phone, the power bank's temperature and even battery health.

Hate Messy Cable Management? Anker Solved It

The Anker Nano Power Bank gives me access to one USB A and two USB C output ports. It is capable of 45W output (max) and 30W Input (max). The 30W input means you can fully charge the power bank in approximately 2 hours (using a 30W or higher PD wall charger), whereas the 45W is able to deliver quicker battery into your device.

Most obious is the Nano Power Bank's built-in USB C cable, which is 70cm long, that pulls out and retracts back neatly into the body smoothly. This powerbank may not have reduced clutter for me, but it is a very neat powerbank that does not give me much anxiety into whether I am prematurely ruining the cable. In fact, this USB C cable is tested for over 20,000 bends.

Pulling out the cable also feels as seamless as pulling out a measuring tape. If I can praise it further, it's even smoother than most typical measuring tape. That's how premium and comfortable it is to use the built-in USB C cable, which my Husband and I often used for our other gadgets during our 2-weeks Thailand trip.

It's Largely Consistent with Charging

For the most parts, my phone charged pretty fast. What would generally take an hour would take me about 1/4 less the time with the Anker Nano Power Bank. I remember the first time I excitedly tried the power bank with my USB C to Lightning cable, which should provide 20W output to my iPhone 14 Pro's PD2.0 charging, and I noticed it liked to jump between 17W and 18W charging. That's a fair expectation though I wished I could've achieved 19W or even 20W output for fast charging.

If You're Worried About Power Bank Safety, You Need This

I like that I can easily understand how safe my power bank is to use. There have been several power bank cases that jeopardised the safety of air travellers, which are not pretty. Therefore I could say that the single best reason to get this power bank for, besides its simple cable management, is the fact that it is designed with Anker's proprietary safety system which will conduct temperature checks daily in order to monitor the internal battery and prevent overheating, enhancing longevity and safety.
