vivo has officially unveiled OriginOS 6, the latest evolution of its custom Android-based operating system, designed to deliver “smoothness mastery” through AI, intelligent design, and long-term optimization. The OS will make its Malaysia debut in November 2025, with the vivo X300 as the first device to feature it.
Celebrating the company’s 30th anniversary, vivo positions OriginOS 6 as a redefinition of how users interact with technology, blending responsive performance, creative tools, and next-generation AI assistance in one cohesive experience.
Smoothness Mastery: Look Smooth, Feel Smooth, Stay Smooth
Smoothness lies at the heart of OriginOS 6. The new Origin Smooth Engine will deliver seamless collaboration among the system’s core modules, computing, storage, and display, delivering an all-around experience that looks smooth, feels smooth, and stays smooth over time.
OriginOS 6 will benefit from its 8+1 Ultra-Core Computing framework that keeps critical tasks prioritized, improving app cold-start speeds by 18.5% and frame-rate stability by 10.5%. It'll work hand-in-hand with Memory Fusion that accelerates data loading by 106%, while Dual Rendering boosts animation performance by 35% and maintains frame rates 11% steadier under heavy loads.
Smoothness is first seen on-screen through the Origin Animation System, which enhances the visual experience with motion effects such as Spring Animation, Blur Transition, Morphing Animation, and One Shot Animation, giving each touch a natural rhythm and visual coherence.
The OriginOS 6 will also be pwoered by vivo’s industry-first Snap-Up Engine that prioritizes computing power for high-demand actions such as ticketing, keeping users one step ahead. Combined with faster app launches, up to 16% quicker when opening 50 consecutive apps, and a refined touch response that’s 41% faster, every tap and swipe feels effortlessly fluid.
Moreover, OriginOS 6 has earned SGS certification for sustained smoothness, simulating five years of heavy use.
Intuitive Design Inspired by Nature
Inspired by nature and grounded in how people experience the world, OriginOS 6 is designed to make digital life more intuitive, effortless, and delightful.
The Origin Design system unifies visual elements including color, shape, icon, image, font, layout, material, and depth, combining simplicity with precision. The new vivo Sans brand font supports over 40 languages with adjustable weight for visual balance, while more than 2,800 symbols have been refined for clarity at any size. With Dynamic Glow and Translucent Color, light flows across materials, adding depth and immersive vibrancy to every interaction.
Bringing life’s sensibilities into the digital world, vivo has also reimagined app design. From checking device status in iManager to tracking well-being in Origin Health, users can focus on ongoing tasks and get things done with ease. The new Immersive Weather feature allows users to explore weather in an engaging digital form.
OriginOS 6 also encourages personal expression. The new Lock Screen Grid allows users to arrange and resize widgets freely, customize fonts, and combine photos for instant updates. A reimagined Home Screen Grid introduces a sleek four-by-seven layout with adaptive folders, while Flip Cards bring everyday photos to life with dynamic displays that shift naturally as the device is tilted.
vivo AI: Beyond Personal Intelligence
In close collaboration with Google, it introduces the upgraded Gemini and Circle to Search, delivering a smarter and more intuitive experience.
As a new, natural, and intuitive form of interaction, the new Origin Island displays real-time status at the top of the screen and remains visible when switching apps, integrating with Android 16’s Live Updates feature. It offers contextual suggestions that users can act on instantly, enabling Copy and Go (copy a phone number to call, text, or save as a new contact, or copy meeting details to create a calendar item), and Drag and Go (edit a photo and drag it to Origin Island to continue in the suggested app without switching).
For imaging, the new AI Retouch feature integrates AI Erase, AI Image Expander, and AI Photo Enhance into one seamless workflow for effortless editing.
Security and Endurance You Can Rely On
OriginOS 6 strengthens protection with the vivo Security brand to safeguard data and privacy, ensuring transparency and control, on-device intelligence, and data minimization. It'll leverage on upgraded BlueVolt technology to improve power efficiency and charging stability, keeping performance cool, consistent, and long lasting.
Availability and Upgrade Plan
OriginOS 6 will roll out globally starting November 2025, with Malaysia among the first markets to receive it. The vivo X300 will debut as the first model pre-installed with the new OS in Malaysia. Upgrade and rollout timelines may vary across regions, depending on local strategies and distribution channels.
