These days, things seem to be moving quickly. Let's face it, life feels like it moves at a million miles an hour. Days bleed into nights, and it seems we never have a chance to just... stop and breathe.
Before that overwhelm sets in, we really need to focus on taking care of our mental health. It’s incredibly easy to be caught up in work and everything else. Plus, it doesn't help that all we want to do at the end of the day is doomscroll on our phones. But if you're already on your devices, why not make them work for our mental health instead of against it?
If you’re already carrying an Apple Watch or an iPhone, Apple has several initiatives to encourage us to take a moment for ourselves. To mark World Mental Health Day on 10 October, you can even snag a cool limited-edition digital award on your Watch just by logging 10 minutes of mindfulness or meditation. It's a simple, achievable goal to kick off some better self-care habits.
Here’s a rundown of how else you can start looking after your mental health right on your devices:
Make Mindfulness A Habit

As much as the Apple Watch is known for being a fitness tracker, it's also a reliable tracker for your mental health.
The Mindfulness app is a built-in feature that literally reminds you to pause and reset. You can open it and start a Reflect or Breathe session, which guides you through a few minutes of focus and centering.
Both the Health app on your iPhone and the Mindfulness app on your Apple Watch allow you to log how you’re feeling. You can record your momentary emotions and daily moods. Over time, the Health app helps you see how your state of mind correlates with lifestyle factors such as exercise, sleep, time spent in daylight, and mindful minutes.
Track & Look Back At Your Progress
If you're concerned about your mood, you can take mental health assessments directly on your iPhone or iPad. These tools help you understand your current risk for conditions like depression and anxiety.
The Journal app on the iPhone allows you to reflect on your feelings and log your momentary emotions. You can set up a journaling schedule with notifications to remind you to write, and the time you spend journaling is automatically added as mindful minutes in the Health app.

Free Guided Meditations on Apple Fitness+ App
Fitness+ offers a full library of Meditations to help you recharge and be mindful of your day. These sessions are grouped by three goals, depending if you're looking for something to help feel restored, thankful, and inspired.
For those needing specific help, Fitness+ offers a six-episode programme called "Meditations for When You Feel Stress or Anxiety," which helps you process and understand these feelings or prepare for times when they are likely to arise.
As part of World Mental Day, Apple Fitness+ trainer Christian Howard will be hosting a special 10-minute Breath Meditation, focusing on the effective technique of belly breathing to help lower stress and encourage relaxation. This session will held until 12 October and is free for all Apple users, even if you don't subscribe to Fitness+.
Apple Fitness+ is available as a subscription service for RM19.90 per month or RM119.90 per year. You can find it in the Fitness app on iPhone.
