Amazon has unveiled two new e-readers in their new Kindle Scribe lineup: a next-generation Kindle Scribe with and without a front light, and the first-ever colour Kindle Scribe.

The new Kindle Scribe features a new design that feels like paper with a larger 11-inch glare-free display. A new texture-molded glass has been added to make it easier to write with a stylus pen so it doesn't feel slippery or glassy.

Meanwhile, Kindle Scribe Coloursoft has a display technology that enhances colours on the screen without washing out the details.

AI-powered features to boost productivity

Your Kindle’s main screen, or All-new Home, has been redesigned so you can access your library, notes, and files. You can now use Quick Notes to instantly jot down a thought on the fly.

More importantly, there's native support for both Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive on Kindle now. You can easily import documents for marking up and export your annotated PDFs back to the cloud. You can now export your handwritten notes straight to Microsoft OneNote, converting them to text or embedding them as an image. This lets you keep all your notes in one central location for continued editing on your laptop.

While the screen remains E Ink, your inputs just got a colourful upgrade. You can now write, draw, and annotate using a palette of 10 pen colours or highlight key text in one of 5 highlighter colours. Artists and creators can now produce smooth gradients and subtle tones with a new Shading tool, giving you much greater control over the depth and richness of your sketches and drawings.

And if you've ever DNF-ed a book and wanted to pick up where you left off, a Story So Far feature lets you quickly catch up on the plot —but only up to where you’ve read, so there's no spoilers to ruin the book for you.

Then, there's Ask this Book that lets you highlight any passage of text and get spoiler-free answers to deeper questions. Want to know a character’s motive or the significance of a particular scene? Just ask the book!

These innovative features will initially be available for thousands of Kindle books in the U.S. and will roll out to the Kindle iOS app later this year and to Kindle devices early next year on books you have purchased or borrowed.
