Samsung's Fan Edition phones have always been about giving you that flagship experience without the flagship price tag. The new Galaxy S25 FE continues this tradition, but with some notable upgrades that might actually make you consider it over the regular S25.
Not only that; the S25 FE now runs on the full Exynos 2400 chipset which is the same processor as the Galaxy S24. This means you're getting proper flagship performance this time around. Plus, it's the first phone in the FE series to come straight out of the box with the new One UI 8 based on Android 16.
At the moment, the phone is available at RM3,099 (8GB + 256GB). Here's how the phone fares.

Design & Screen

The S25 FE rocks an upgraded armor aluminum frame for improved durability, which is great news if you're one of those people who drops their phone more often than they'd like to admit. At 190g and 7.4mm thick, it feels substantial without being a brick in your pocket.
The 6.7-inch OLED display with high brightness is a standout feature—you'll have no problems using this outdoors even under Malaysia's scorching afternoon sun. The bezels are minimal, giving you that premium look that doesn't scream "budget phone."
Performance — Finally Living Up to the "Fan Edition" Name

Here's where things get interesting. With a faster CPU, GPU and NPU, a larger vapor chamber for better cooling and a sufficient 4,900mAh battery, the S25 FE is actually quite the powerhouse, despite its 8GB RAM. The improved cooling system is particularly welcome if you're planning to game during those long LRT rides. While you shouldn't expect it to run your favourite demanding high-graphics game without stuttering, it should be able to run them at mid-quality settings without much faults.
The Galaxy S25 FE also runs on the latest Android 16-based One UI 8—making it the first S25 series phone to get the newest software. That's a nice flex for Fan Edition buyers who usually get the hand-me-downs.
Camera is Standard at Best

The camera setup is where things get... well, predictable. You're getting the familiar triple-camera setup that we've seen before, with a 12MP front camera that captures richly detailed, vibrant selfies, but now with a higher resolution than on the Galaxy S24 FE.
It's good enough for your Instagram stories and family gatherings, but don't expect it to replace your DSLR for those weekend photography trips to Melaka. The main camera performs well in good light with sharp visuals and all, but low-light performance is where you'll notice some noise, though it's not obvious. Overall, colours are still well managed, even in dim-settings.

Battery & Charging: The Upgrade We've Been Waiting For
The FE now comes with faster 45W charging to match the S25+, which is a significant improvement over previous generations. Now, 4,900mAh battery seems low, but in our tests, the Galaxy S25 FE was actually able to last a cool day with regular use, and on several days (over 5 for us) worth of standby as well. Paired with its Super-Fast Charging 2.0, you should easily get through a full day of endless social media scrolling.
Note that day-to-day battery use will still vary depending on user, so your experience will differ from ours.
Software Wins with 7 Years of Updates (Yes, Really!)
After the recent months of attending and seeing smartphone release, we have to give it to Samsung's commitment to 7 major OS upgrades, which is now a rarity still unmatched in the Android market, where most brands now aim to give you 3 to 5 years of updates. So, 7 years on the Galaxy S25 FE is massive. Your phone will still be getting fresh features when everyone else is shopping for replacements.
