Samsung could be releasing the long-awaited dual-hinged, triple folding smartphone by the end of the month.

A new leak by Weibo user, Ice Universe shared that the South Korean company will be debuting the device, reportedly called the Galaxy Z Trifold, during an upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event on 29 September, according to Android Authority. This same leak also suggested that this same event would be the platform for unveiling the company’s new Project Moohan XR headset and AI Galaxy Glasses.

This adds up with another report by The Chosun Daily (via Tom's Guide) that came straight from Samsung mobile chief TM Roh, who says that development on the phone is in its "final stages".

What We Know About Samsung's Trifold Phone So Far...

Thanks to its two inward-folding hinges, the new triple-folding phone will reportedly fold in on itself twice. When the phone is fully closed, the entire foldable screen is safely tucked away and protected.

While the term "trifold" is being widely used, CNET prefer to call it a "triple-screen phone" because of the three separate displays you get when the device is fully unfolded. When closed, there will also be a separate display on the outside of the device.

The new phone is expected to feature a massive 10-inch OLED display when fully unfolded, giving users a tablet-like experience. The device will be powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chip and come with 16GB of RAM.

In terms of the camera, South Korean outlet The Bell equipped with a camera on par with the Galaxy Z Fold7, including a 200MP main camera, a 12-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 10-megapixel telephoto camera.

Similar to HUAWEI's triple-folding Mate XT, Samsung's is also expected to have a high price tag, with various reports suggesting figures from $2,930 to $3,000 USD (approximately RM12,607).
