Apple has revealed its latest base flagship — iPhone 17, unveiled at the Apple Event 2025 on September 9, 10AM PT (September 10, 1AM MYT).

TLDR: Notable Changes
On the iPhone 17 is a new 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide camera that captures expansive scenes and macro photography in more detail. Now encased in the new Ceramic Shield 2, the iPhone 17 is also tougher than any smartphone glass or glass-ceramic. iPhone 17 is also powered by the latest-generation A19 chip for higher performance and longevity.
Design & Display
On the iPhone 17 is a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion technology that makes content pop, enabling supersmooth scrolling, immersive gaming, and improved efficiency.
Perfected with ProMotion technology, supported by 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, iPhone 17's screen dynamically responds to your content so it could play demanding smooth content. The Super Retina XDR Display also has a 3000 nits brightness level that offers reduced glare, with 2x better outdoor contrast.
iPhone 17 is protected with a Ceramic Shield 2 that offers 3x better scratch resistant, thanks to a new coating, which adds hardness to protect the iPhone 17 from everyday scratches.
Performance
The iPhone 17 will be powered by the Bionic A19 CPU, built with an advanced 3nm technology. This 6-core CPU brings an updated display engine, supporting a 5-core GPU, 16-core neural engine and increased memory bandwidth. The CPU makes it possible to allow gaming of up to 120Hz.
Also powered by Apple Intelligence in tandem with iOS 26 platform, iPhone 17 will have updated visual intelligence as well as text and audio translation on the go with Live Translation, which supports varied languages across Messages, FaceTime, and Phone app.
iPhone 17 will come all- day battery life, where users will be able to enjoy 8 hours more battery compared to iPhone 16, achieving 30 hours of video playback inb total. The iPhone 17 also now comes with upgraded fast charging that achieves 50% battery with just 20 minutes of battery when used with high-wattage USB-C power adapters like Apple’s new 40W Dynamic Power Adapter with 60W Max.
Storage wise, the new iPhone 17 is available with storage sizes in 256GB and 512GB. In the iPhone 17 series is also a Travel eSIM feature, supported by over 500 global carriers, and an N1 chip, which is a new Apple-designed wireless networking chip that enables better Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread. This supports faster wireless transfers like Hotspot and AirDrop.
Camera
iPhone 17 is fitted with a dual setup. The main shooter, a 48MP Fusion camera, is capable of 2x optical telephoto shots whereas its secondary shooter is a 12MP, 1x Macro camera.
Like the iPhone 17 Pro models, the front camera of the iPhone 17 is an 18MP Center Stage Front Camera. This camera gives more pixel for details and better stabilization. It also has the widest angle field of view—almost twice the size of previous front camera. In fact, this new camera is capable of giving you 4 different orientations with just one shot, instead of needing you to turn your phone orientation for the best capture. Speaking of which, the iPhone also uses AI to expand your photo shots if needed in situations.
Now better built with a better grip when taking photos, the Center Stage Front Camera also offers upgraded video call stablilization. Speaking of which, iPhone 17 will be capable of recording videos in 4K60 FPS Dolby Vision with creative features, such as Cinematic mode and Action mode.

Apple iPhone 17 Price & Release Date
The Apple iPhone 17 Pro is available for pre-order this Saturday, 13 September, starting 8pm MYT, and will be arriving in stores on 19 September 2025. Prices will start from USD $799. Malaysia has yet to announce its own prices.
