Apple Event Sept 2025: New iPhone Air — Apple's Thinnest iPhone With Pro Performance

Apple has unveiled the newest member of the iPhone family, the iPhone Air, at the Apple Event 2025 on September 9, 10AM PT (September 10, 1AM MYT).

The iPhone maker calls it "the thinnest iPhone ever made" — so thin, that "it disappears in your hands", measuring at just 5.6mm.

Design & Display

iPhone Air sports a vibrant 6.5-inch Super Retina XDR display — the brightest ever on an iPhone, making it easy to see even in direct sunlight. Running on ProMotion technology, the screen refresh fluidly at 120Hz, optimising the content for gaming and streaming.

It's also the thinnest iPhone ever made at 5.6mm slim, and is incredibly light, yet maintains a large, stunning display.

The phone is encased in an aerospace-grade titanium frame with a high-gloss finish, making it both light and premium. The back of the iPhone Air is also protected by Ceramic Shield, and the front uses an even tougher Ceramic Shield 2, which is the tech giant's new glass-ceramic material. It's supposedly three times more scratch-resistant and four times more resistant to cracks to give you a peace of mind about its air-like thinness.

Performance: A Pro Inside The Thinnest Chassis Ever

It may be thin, but Apple has imbued the iPhone Air with a new family of Apple-designed chips, A19 Pro, N1, and C1X, which work together to make the phone reliable in terms of performance and power. These chips, combined with an innovative internal design that maximises space for the battery, give the iPhone Air fantastic all-day battery life. Apple is not compromising on power for a thin phone.

The iPhone Air will also come out of the box with iOS26, which Apple says will be available as a free software update on Monday, 15 September. This includes a new design with Liquid Glass and a host of Apple Intelligence features, including Live Translation in messages and calls and Visual Intelligence tools.

The new iPhone also features an eSIM-only design, which saves space internally and allows for continued connectivity through affordable international roaming plans from home carriers or local prepaid options available with more than 200 carriers. The eSIM cannot be physically removed if an iPhone is lost or stolen.

Camera

Unlike the last few iPhone models, the rear camera design on the iPhone Air is a single, pill-shaped tab across the back of the phone. Accompanying this design are two new camera systems.

The main camera is a 48MP Fusion system that gives you the equivalent of four different lenses for all lighting conditions and even includes a 2x optical-quality Telephoto for getting closer to your subjects without losing detail.

For the first time on an iPhone, there's an 18MP Center Stage front camera that keeps you perfectly centered in the frame during video calls. Even if you're moving around, the camera stabilises the shot in 4K HDR recording.

You can also hold the iPhone vertically for landscape shots. This Center Stage feature automatically expands the field of view to include everyone in a group selfie.

Plus, videos can be recorded simulatenously using the front and rear cameras. If you're attending an event or concert, Dual Capture allows you to record your reaction and the happenings in front of you.

A Full Ecosystem of Accessories

To complement this breakthrough design, Apple is introducing a new range of accessories for the iPhone Air, including a protective MagSafe Case, a lightweight iPhone Air Bumper, and an easily-adjustable Crossbody Strap.

The iPhone Air MagSafe Battery is like super-slim power bank that attaches to the back of the device, extending battery life up to 40 hours of video playback when used together.
