TLDR: Notable Changes

This time, there's a new camera notch design, which is a big long-awaited physical change that everyone have been anticipating for quite some time. Also, it features a triple 48MP camera setup, first time ever in an iPhone.
Durability is also a notable point made in the presentation, where Apple stressed the iPhone 17 Pro has a more durable and rigid unibody design, made to fit the biggest battery ever in an iPhone as well. It also has a body that dissipates heat well.

Design & Display
The iPhone 17 Pro models are available in 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch sizes, with a Super Retina XDR display that is protected by Ceramic Shield 2 which also extends protection to the back of the phones from everyday wear and tear. Apple mentions that the Ceramic Shield 2 is stronger than Ceramic Glass used in previous models, and that it offers 4x more general resistance than previous models, with 3x better scratch resistant than iPhone 16 models.
iPhone 17 Pro & Pro Max also has a new striking design, complete with key thermal handling capability, while remaining comfortable to hold. This is thanks to the lightweight aerospace-grade 7000-series aluminum alloy case that maintains heat dissipation, ensuring minimal thermal issues that may affect performance. The new Apple architecture also has several reasons for the overhaul: to fit an Apple-designed vapor chamber for heat dissipation, bigger battery space and antenna repositioning.

Performance
In the new iPhone 17 Pro models is the A19 Pro chipset, which offers larger cache and memory capabilities, delivering 40% better sustained performance than the iPhone 16 Pro. In general, iPhone 17 Pro models bank on Apple Intelligence to optimize overall performance. Apple promises that the Pro models are ideal for gaming, video editing, and running large local language models.
A19 Pro chipset is a 6-core CPU that claims top CPU speed in any smartphone, accompanied by a 6-core GPU architecture that includes Neural Accelerators built into each GPU core, a larger cache, and more memory than A18 Pro. The GPU works in tandem with the new 16-core Neural Engine to power Al models, stunning graphics, and AAA gaming titles like Arknights: Endfield, enabling hardware-accelerated ray tracing and higher frame rates.
Speaking of which, the iPhone 17 Pro models now delivers higher all-day battery life, with a record of 39 hours video playback. Both models can charge 50 percent in 20 minutes if used with high-wattage USB-C power adapters like Apple’s new 40W Dynamic Power Adapter with 60W Max.
The iPhone 17 lineup also introduces N1, a new Apple-designed wireless networking chip that enables Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread. This N1 chip allows for faster wireless transfers functions like AirDrop and Bluetooth.
Storage wise, the new iPhone 17 Pro models are available with a storage size from 256GB. In the iPhone 17 series is also a Travel eSIM feature, supported by over 500 global carriers, and iOS 26 that will introduce a new design as well as updated features in CarPlay, Apple Music, Maps, Wallet, Apple Games, and a brand-new app that gives players a single destination for all their games.

Camera
For the first time ever, Apple has placed 48MP cameras for all three of its shooters. Each camera are of Apple's Fusion Technology Camera, with a next-generation tetraprism design and a sensor that is 56% larger than the previous generation to improve sharpness in bright light and bring more detail to darker shots.
The setup comprises a 4x optical telephoto zoom for 100mm zoom, and 8x optical telephoto zoom capable of 200mm zoom, as well as an ultra wide and wide lens.

iPhone 17 series brings in a brand-new Center Stage front camera that features the first square front camera sensor on an iPhone, offering a wider field of view and higher resolution — up to 18MP for photos — to capture more detail.
This new Center Stage front camera allows users to take photos and videos in portrait or landscape when holding the iPhone vertically. For group selfies, Center Stage uses AI to automatically expand the field of view and can rotate from portrait to landscape to include everyone in the frame.
The Center Stage front camera also enables ultra-stabilized video in 4K HDR, where users can now record on the front and rear cameras simultaneously with Dual Capture — perfect for speaking directly to camera while documenting behind-the-scenes action. During calls over FaceTime or third-party apps, Center Stage for video calls keeps users stable and positioned in frame.

Videos: List of video support within the iPhone 17 series include powerful features like Dolby Vision HDR recording, 4K120 fps, ProRes Log, and support for ACES. The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max will also be the first smartphones to support ProRes RAW, Log 2, and genlock, a technique used to precisely synchronize video across multiple cameras and inputs.
