For years, anyone trying to use Instagram on an iPad has had to settle for an awkward, tiny version of the phone app on the Safari browser. After Meta introduced an official WhatsApp app for the iPad, they've finally debuted an Instagram version! It arrives 15 years after the original iPhone app launch. Strange that it's taken this long, but better late than never, I guess.
A Bigger Screen

When you open the app, it takes you directly to Reels. Meta has completely redesigned the app, taking advantage of the space. Comments now appear on the side while the video continues to play at full size. Like on the iPhone version, you can read what people are saying without missing anything.
You can also enjoy a full view of your Instagram feed and Stories, which are now conveniently placed at the top of the screen.
Besides that, Meta has made it more convenient to navigate between your inbox and your main feed. On the iPad, your list of conversations appears on one side of the screen while the chat itself opens on the other. It’s a bit like using a desktop app and makes it much easier to keep up with multiple chats at once.
This same layout applies to your notifications and activity, allowing you to see your full feed on one side and your notifications on the other.
Choose What Kind of Feed You Want To See

A new "Following" tab is now available, giving you more control over what you see.
The Instagram for iPad app is now rolling out globally for free on the App Store for iPads running iPadOS 15.1 and later. And for Android users, the new tablet design is expected to be coming soon.
