During the National Day Parade, Proton's new electric hatchback, the e.MAS 5, made its first public appearance. It's being touted as Malaysia's very first affordable electric vehicle and is said to be more compact and smarter than the e.MAS 7.
The e.MAS 5 is described as being "a compact B-segment car with the kind of spaciousness you'd expect from a much larger C-segment vehicle." The car is packed with clever features, including an impressive 32 storage compartments, perfect for organising all your family's gear. With a 70-litre boot, you can easily fit a stroller, a full week's worth of groceries, or your gym bag and still have room to spare.
The new hatchback is built with the scorching heat of the Malaysian sun in mind. The e.MAS 5 has a pre-cooling feature that lets you cool the cabin before you even get inside.
It comes with real-time charge planning to help you find and plan your charging stops, so you don't have charging anxiety on-the-road. And speaking of charging, the e.MAS 5 can get its battery up to 80% in less time than a typical lunch break.

Its nimble handling makes it easy to glide through city traffic and slip into tight parking spots. With advanced safety features, you can drive with confidence, knowing you're protected.
Scheduled to launch in the fourth quarter of 2025, the e.MAS 5 is the second model under the Proton e.MAS brand, which was launched as part of Proton's commitment to innovation and a sustainable future for Malaysia.
