With the iPhone 17 launch set for 9 September, Apple has updated its lists of obsolete products with devices from as early as 2015.
Three MacBooks have now been declared obsolete, while one iPhone has moved to its vintage list.
In case you weren't aware, Apple has a two-step process for retiring its products, according to MacRumors.
A product becomes vintage five years after Apple stops selling it. At this stage, you can still get repairs from Apple Stores and authorised service providers, but parts are not guaranteed to be available.
Meanwhile, a device is considered obsolete once a product has been off sale for seven years. At this point, Apple's own stores and its authorised partners will no longer fix it, with very few exceptions.
The company uses this system to manage its inventory of parts and focus support on newer devices.
Is Your Mac or iPhone on the List?
If you're using an 11-inch MacBook Air from early 2015 or a 13-inch or 15-inch MacBook Pro from 2017, your device is now obsolete. This means any major repairs will no longer be possible through Apple's official channels.

The iPhone 8 Plus in its 64GB and 256GB versions has also just entered vintage status. While this doesn't mean repairs are impossible just yet, parts for repairs will become much harder to get in the next couple of years.
Apple announced the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus in September 2017, alongside the iPhone X. iPhone 8 Plus hasn't received any major software updates since iOS 16 in 2022, which can be a security concern.
