Apple is holding a major event in September, where it is expected to unveil a slew of new products, including the iPhone 17 lineup and new Apple gadgets.

The tech giant shared the invitation with the tagline "Awe dropping," possibly hinting at big design changes and new features, particularly its focus on proving its innovation in the age of AI after delaying a major Siri update. Pressure's riding high for the company this year, as industry experts and consumers look to see if Apple remains an innovator in the AI age.

Here are what you can expect from the event:

The iPhone 17: A Super-Thin Redesign

The star of the show is likely a completely redesigned iPhone, with the most anticipated model being the iPhone 17 Air. In March, Bloomberg reported that this new variant is expected to replace the Plus model. It'll be the thinnest iPhone ever made, possibly just 5.5mm thick. While this design is incredibly sleek, it may come with a few trade-offs, namely a single-lens rear camera and potentially shorter battery life.

Beyond the iPhone 17 Air, Apple is expected to announce the standard iPhone 17 and new Pro models. These will likely get the usual upgrades, including a new A19 processor for better performance and improvements to the cameras. The Pro models are rumoured to feature a new, wider camera bump and a camera upgrade, including a 48-megapixel telephoto lens with up to 8x optical zoom.

The Pro models could also be more durable, with a new aluminium and glass back design.

New Apple Watches and AirPods

The event won't just be about phones. Apple is also expected to refresh its other popular devices.

The Apple Watch Ultra 3 will probably get satellite connectivity, helping wearers during emergencies or send messages in remote areas where there is no cellular or Wi-Fi service. This feature has already been available on iPhones for a few years.

A new version of the AirPods Pro is long overdue. Along with improved audio and better noise cancellation, there are strong rumours that the AirPods Pro 3 will get built-in health sensors, including in-ear heart rate tracking, much like the existing Powerbeats Pro 2.

Accessories and Beyond

Apple is known for introducing new accessories alongside its major products. This year, expect a new line of "TechWoven" fabric cases to replace the unpopular FineWoven cases from last year.

These new cases are supposedly more durable and may even include little cutouts at the bottom for attaching lanyards or straps. The new iPhones and watches will also come in new colour options, with the iPhone 17 Pro models possibly getting a new shade of orange.

How to Watch

Apple's "Awe Dropping" event will start 1am Malaysian time on Wednesday, 10 September. Apple will livestream the event on its website on YouTube, and through the Apple TV app on supported devices.

According to PCMag's predictions, you can expect preorders to begin as early as Friday, 12 September, with a probable retail release a week later.
