Following the success and popularity of dual-folding smartphones like the Galaxy Z Fold7, the South Korean company is expanding the concept to triple-folding devices.
Samsung has confirmed plans to launch a tri-folding device some time in the second half of the year during its company's earnings call for Q2.
SamMobile reported that the South Korean company is reportedly launch a tri-folding phone in October 2025 before Apple launches its first foldable iPhone in late 2026.
The tri-folding phone, known as the Galaxy Z Trifold will feature two inward folding hinges. This way, no part of the foldable screen will be exposed to the environment when the device is folded completely.
It will reportedly be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, 16GB RAM, a camera setup similar to the Galaxy Z Fold7, and 25W fast charging.
"Samsung will reinforce the AI capabilities of tablets and wearable and expand the Galaxy ecosystem with the launch of products with new form-factors, including extended reality (XR) and Trifold devices, and contribute to maintaining solid profitability despite market uncertainties and rising bill of materials (BOM) costs," the company said.
The Galaxy S25 FE Could Be Released In August
During the same call, Samsung also teased the launch of the Galaxy S25 FE, which could be slated for an earlier launch compared to its usual September-October release. We could be looking at a August or early September release.
“For the Galaxy S25 series, we will focus on maintaining sales momentum with seasonal promotions as well as an earlier launch of the S25 FE,” Samsung was quoted saying in Android Authority.
Much of the upcoming phone's specs are surmised by leaks and rumours. According to those, the Galaxy S25 FE will have a 7.44mm OLED panel — thinner than its predecessor, the Galaxy S24 FE. The phone may potentially have a higher selfie camera (12MP) and faster charging speed (45W) compared to last year's model.
The other specifications of the phone will likely be similar to the Galaxy S24 FE.
