If you're eager to get a first look at the stunning Liquid Glass design and all the groundbreaking features coming to your iPhone, Apple has released the public beta of iOS 26 last week.
However, not all iPhones will be able to handle this new operating system, so if you own an older, ineligible device, you won't be able to download iOS 26 when it officially becomes available in the next few months.

Some iOS 26 Features We're Particularly Excited About

One of the most visually striking changes coming to the new operating system is the new, fluid-like "Liquid Glass" design extending to the Home Screen and Lock Screen. Apple has incorporated stunning optical qualities of glass into the interface, making elements appear incredibly fluid as they subtly reflect and refract their surroundings.
Beyond aesthetics, there are new updates coming to Apple Intelligence. Imagine Live Translations happening during phone calls, so language barriers simply disappear. Plus, Visual Intelligence will act as your smart assistant, ready to answer questions about what you see on screen and even set calendar events for you automatically.

Finally, iOS 26 brings welcome features aimed at creating fewer distractions and a calmer digital space. The new Call Screening function will help you manage unwanted calls by intelligently detecting spam and filtering unknown numbers, leading to a much less cluttered Messages and Phone app. You won't need to be on hold anymore. Hold Assist will allow your phone to effectively "keep your spot in line" while you wait for a live agent, freeing you up to do other things without constantly checking the call.
If you're wondering how you can download the public beta for iOS 26, we have a guide for you.
