Google is making online shopping in Search much more visual and personalised by injecting more clever generative AI into the experience.
Soon, you'll be able to get AI-generated outfit and decor ideas based on your descriptions, and even virtually "try on" clothes.
Visual Shopping with AI Mode
An exciting new feature, part of Google's AI Mode in Search, is set to launch in the next few months in the US.
Here's how it works: If you search for something like "a green flowy dress for a garden party," AI Mode won't just show you pictures of existing dresses. Instead, it will generate images of fake dresses in various styles that match your description.

These AI-created visuals act as a guide, helping you zero in on the exact look you're envisioning. Once you pick an AI-generated image that’s closest to your dream item, Google will then show you real listings for visually similar products from online stores that you can actually buy.
However, it's worth noting that the initial images Google's AI Mode creates are still "fake." The AI-generated clothing or decor obviously won't be a one-to-one exact match.
See Clothes on YOU Before You Buy
@productnationco Google just announced a whole bunch of new AI powered features - one of which is Try On. This is going to change the way we shop online for sure. For something you can start using right now (if you're in the US), Google is rolling out a virtual try-on tool, letting you see how the clothes might look on your own body by simply uploading a photo of yourself.
It was previously a limited experiment within Google's Search Labs. But now, it's launching fully within Google Search, Google Shopping, and even directly in product results on Google Images.
To use it, you just tap on a clothing product result in Search, Shopping, or Images, look for the "try it on" icon, and then upload a full-length body photo of yourself.
Google's AI will then display what you might look like wearing the selected apparel. This offers a much more personalised shopping experience than just seeing the clothes modelled on someone else, helping you make more confident purchasing decisions.
