For gamers who juggle between their Xbox console, PC, or even a Windows handheld, Microsoft is about to make life a whole lot more convenient. Xbox has just introduced a new Play History feature so you can pick up where you left off, no matter which Xbox device you're on.

This update, detailed in a recent Xbox blog post, is rolling out today for Xbox Insiders.

Jump Back In, Anywhere, Anytime

On your Xbox device's homescreen, you'll now see a dedicated list of games you've recently played on that specific device. While this has been a standard feature on consoles, it's a welcome addition to the Xbox PC app, streamlining all your games.

The new "Play History" button is located at the end of the "Jump Back in" list (or on the far right of the recently-played list on console). It features this entire category provides a comprehensive overview of all games played across all your Xbox devices.

This new functionality allows transitions between gaming sessions across different devices. For instance, if a user has been playing a game on their Xbox Series X the previous evening and is now commuting with a Windows handheld, a quick glance at "Play History" allows them to instantly locate that specific game, launch it, and resume play precisely where they left off.

Furthermore, for individuals managing extensive game libraries, "Play History" keeps track of game titles that might otherwise be forgotten across various systems. This feature unites the distinct elements of the Xbox ecosystem — console, PC, and cloud — into a singularly cohesive and user-friendly experience.

Beyond "Play History," there is a new filter for the Xbox PC app: the ability to filter games by "cloud playable."

Now, instead of manually checking which games are available through Xbox Cloud Gaming, you can simply apply this filter to see exactly which titles can be streamed instantly, without the need for lengthy downloads. You can play games more spontaneously and without committing to a full download.

How to Get These New Features Early

The "Play History" and the new cloud filtering features is available on the Xbox Insider programme today.

Simply download the Xbox Insider app on your console or through the Microsoft Store on PC. From there, you can opt-in to either the "Xbox Update Preview" or the "PC Gaming Preview," depending on your preferred platform, and start enjoying these updates ahead of the general public.
