Since the release of the Galaxy S24 series in early 2024, Samsung has been heavily investing in its impressive suite of Galaxy AI features.
Initially, the tech giant had indicated a somewhat ambiguous stance, stating that these features would only be "provided for free until the end of 2025."
Many users wondered if this meant that a paywall might be looming, but now we finally have confirmation.
Samsung is keeping certain core Galaxy AI features free indefinitely.
On Your Phone by Default
In a pre-briefing for the recently released foldable devices, Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7, Samsung told Android Police that all Galaxy AI features that 'are on your phone by default' will never be charged for.
At the very least, we now know exactly which existing Galaxy AI features Samsung considers "default" and were developed by Samsung independently, including Live Translate, Note Assist (in Samsung Notes), Zoom Nightography, Audio Eraser, Browse Assist, Generative Wallpapers, and more.
Other Gemini-powered features such as Circle to Search are currently free of charge, but it may come with a price tag down the line. These advanced features will be free for the next six months on supported Samsung Galaxy devices.
