Samsung recently unveiled the new Z Fold7, Flip7, and Watch8 Series at the Galaxy Unpacked 2025 in Brooklyn, New York, on 9 July.
Besides a host of hardware upgrades, the tech giant has also showcased new features coming to Galaxy AI, revealing a partnership with Google to integrate Gemini Live into its latest device lineup.
So, we wondered: Is Samsung and Google's partnership truly more exclusive than what we see with other Android brands?
ProductNation's media guest and Creative Director Umar, sat down with Carl Nordenberg, Vice President, Regional Head of Mobile Business in Southeast Asia and Oceania at Samsung Electronics, at the event to get down to the heart of the matter.

A Collaboration Spanning Both Hardware And Software
"We have a deep and longstanding partnership with Google, and we really work hard to collaborate with them to bring the best experiences possible to Samsung Galaxy," Nordenberg affirmed.
He highlighted specific examples of this deep-rooted collab:
-
The side button on Galaxy phones now offers direct access to Gemini Live, Google's advanced AI assistant. This deep hardware integration extends to new devices like the Galaxy Watch8 and Watch8 Classic, bringing Gemini Live functionality right to your wrist.
-
The partnership goes further with deep integration of Gemini within Samsung's own core apps and features, such as Samsung Notes and Samsung Calendars. With these AI capabilities, Samsung user can benefit from better productivity.
Kicking Off The Mobile AI Era

Samsung was a pioneer in ushering in the current era of mobile AI, notably with the launch of the Galaxy AI suite on the S24 series.
"Of course, competition will do the same, they will invest in bringing AI to their consumers, which of course they should, because it benefits everyone," he shared.
Naturally, this bold step has inspired competitors to follow suit, as other companies now strive to incorporate similar AI experiences into their smartphones.
While Nordenberg views this competitive landscape positively. he remains confident in Samsung's position in the field.
"We believe that we are out in front of this," Nordenberg added. "We're continuing to invest not only in new AI experiences, but the hardware to support them."
He also emphasised that the company doesn't see AI as just another feature to tick off a list.
"For us, AI is not just a feature, it's a core to what we're providing," he said.
