Screen & Design
On the HONOR 400 Pro 5G is a 6.7″ AMOLED HDR display panel, capable of reaching 120 Hz refresh rate, and peak brightness up to 5,000 nits for excellent readability out in daylight. Its external design is of a sleek flat frame with minimal bezels, adorned with a matte glass back and available in 3 colours: Desert Gold, Midnight Black, and Tidal Blue.
HONOR 400 5G is lightweight to handle at 205g. In terms of durability, Malaysia gets the HONOR 400 Pro 5G with IP669 rating which is dust and high-pressure water jet resistant, compared to global units rated at IP68, which is better capable of low-pressure water jet resistant instead.
The HONOR 400 Pro 5G upon first impression, is solid to hold. The build is pristine and premium to look, as it has a smooth back finish. Despite that fact, this phone's pretty durable against fingerprints and scratches.

Performance & Battery
Underneath the HONOR 400 Pro 5G is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Processor. This is a powerful chipset dedicated to delivering power and seamless AI operations. With the Adreno 750 GPU, visuals as well as most popular demanding games will not be a problem to run on the HONOR 400 Pro 5G. For everyday tasks and even moderately heavy usage, there's no sign of sluggish performance.
Despite being a slim and lightweight phone, the HONOR 400 5G is powered by a 6000mAh capacity, which is the variant for Malaysia compared to the global sets getting 5300mAh. Made with Silicon-Carbon tech, this explains why the HONOR 400 Pro 5G is able to host a larger battery capacity in a thinner design.
That's not all; the 400 5G supports 100W HONOR SuperCharge which rapidly refills the battery from 51% in 15 minutes or 100% in 39 minutes, meaning less time tethered to a wall and more time living your life. In other matters, the HONOR 400 Pro 5G is also capable of reverse-charge other devices, though only at a speed rate of 5W (wired).

Camera
Here's the highlight of the HONOR 400 Pro 5G, which offers an "Ultra-Clear AI Imaging" with its 200MP Main Camera (OIS), which is still considered uncommon on a mid-range phone. The massive 200-megapixel main sensor was fitted to deliver high resolution visuals while leveraging AI, including features like "AI Super Zoom" (up to 30x digital zoom) to make up for the lack of a dedicated telephoto lens. The promise is to capture incredible detail in every shot, from sweeping landscapes to intricate close-ups.
For the most parts, HONOR 400 Pro 5G managed to capture really detailed shots, with images looking standard in their colour spectrum and lighting well-managed in dim setting albeit image results show higher contrast than standard. Close-up portraits also looks vivid and rich in details, though we think the best subjects to capture on the 400 Pro are non-human. With that, landscape shots are also beautiful on the HONOR 400 Pro.
In our books, HONOR 400 Pro has a really good, high-end camera for a device that's RM2,699, to which is usually above RM3,000 in other photography-focused phones.

UI, OS & AI
HONOR 400 Pro 5G comes with the latest Android 15 and MagicOS 9.0 operating system, and is set to receive 6 years of OS/security updates, matching a timeline close to other premium models like the Samsung Galaxy A56 (6 years) and also close to what goes onto the Google Pixel 9a (7 years).
Beyond imaging for the camera, on the HONOR 400 Pro 5G is also a slew of fun AI features across the board. There's the notable "AI Image-to-Video" which turns still photos into dynamic 5-second video clips (perfect for social media!), alongside AI Eraser 2.0, AI Cutout, and AI Upscale. These tools promise to enhance content creation and productivity directly on the device.

Now, our experience with the AI camera was creepy yet fun. While it was amusing to see our Pikachu figurine move smoothly, the AI might give a slightly haunting result whereby subjects sometimes move in a twitchy manner (like our little bug friend here).
Nevertheless, this is still a cute gimmick that's actually very touching to use and revive your old family photos (and to be fair, this AI feature is best used on real-life rather than cartoons and such. If you've got family members that you miss, the slight unnatural-movements of AI photos is still a nice touch to connect with your historical roots.
What we like
Camera
The best reason to get the HONOR 400 Pro is for its camera. Its price is hard to beat for a flagship phone that comes with this quality of a camera. Colours might seem a bit more contrasted than usual, but for the most parts the HONOR 400 Pro managed to capture colours and details well, both aspects which are important to hobbyist photographers.
Image To Video Feature
It's easy to get lost in the fun parts that AI has to offer. But we have to give it to HONOR for introducing the AI camera feature that generates still shots into moving visuals. This is a touching feature that highlights the value of what photographs are meant to bring, which is to capture a moment for memory-sake.
Price Point
The HONOR 400 Pro is RM2,699, and positions itself as a flagship, yet this price point is exceptionally affordable compared to competitors. Battery is well-managed, and that its built is also pretty solid. Those who wants a day-to-day phone that takes great photos without overspending their budget should highly consider the HONOR 400 Pro.

What we dislike
Camera Notch Design
The superficial thought we had was the protruding "triangular" shaped camera notch. Some might find the design endearing, but it's a little distracting for us. While we understand that the this design is probably acting as a protective measure to the cameras themselves, it is not the best looker in the design department. This is a preferential matter, and should be judged fairly when you see the phone in person.
Lack of Micro SD Expansion
While it comes in the 512GB variant to solve your storage-anxiety, the strong-points of the HONOR 400 Pro is ultimately its camera as well as Image to Video feature. With that, it's expected that storage will get eaten up quick. So it would've been nice to get a model with 1TB storage. This is unfortunately considered a small quip as many flagships now do not come with storage options.

Who is this for?
Pros
- Great 200MP camera results
- Sturdy built
- Value-for-money
- Siz years of OS updates
Cons
- No micro SD storage expansion
- Not so attractive camera-noth design
- Although it sits at 205g in weight, it feels slightly off-balance when held in hand
For RM2,699, HONOR 400 Pro undercuts many 2025 flagships while offering the same top-tier chipset, a sizeable vivid screen, superior charging speeds and AI-enhanced cameras.
The camera will be the biggest reason to get it, as well for its battery capabilities. But we have to mention still that the HONOR 400 Pro comes with bloatware (easily cleared) and storage is limited for a heavy-graphics-focused phone. Yet the promised six years of updates and solid hardware make the pros outweigh the cons.
