Samsung's latest foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Flip and Z Fold series, are set to redefine what's possible with a smartphone, thanks to deep integration of Galaxy AI.
Running on the new One UI 8, which is based on Android 16, these devices are packed with intelligent features to enhance everything from photography to multitasking.

Multitasking and Assistance From Gemini
The larger, flexible screens of the Galaxy Z series make it easier to multitask in a double or multimodal screen setup with Gemini Live on the side, so you can work on your primary tasks while receiving real-time AI assistance.
Gemini has also been optimised for larger screens, regardless of whether the phone is unfolded or in Flex Mode, apps are adapted to fit a screen that's been partially folded.
A Personal Photo Wizard
With new AI-powered editing tools, Photo Assist now enables side-by-side editing to let you compare changes made to your photos instantly with the original image.
Generative Edit gains a handy "suggest erase" feature, making it easier than ever to remove unwanted objects or elements from your shots.
While not entirely new, the powerful Audio Eraser is now more widely available, embedded within the video player, voice recorder, Samsung Notes, and other transcription actions to remove background noise.
Live Gaming Tips
With Circle to Search, you can now simply circle content on your screen during gameplay to get real-time tips or information without interrupting your session.
This works well for strategy games such as Among Us, Mobile Legends, or even identifying items in Genshin Impact. However, this feature probably isn't very practical for fast-paced games such as Call Of Duty. You'll probably be eliminated before you even have a chance to circle an enemy in the game.
Flip7
FlexWindow
Every time you close a Samsung Galaxy Z Flip phone, the compact screen on the cover that you see is called a FlexWindow. It gives you quick access to information and controls without needing to open your phone fully.
With the latest Galaxy Z Flip model, this Flex Window is getting a massive upgrade in terms of size and software capabilities.
Bigger, Brighter, and More Immersive
The first thing you'll notice is the size. The FlexWindow has grown significantly from 3.4 inches on the Flip6 to a much larger 4.1 inches on the new Z Flip7. In combination with its slim 1.25mm bezels, this is the largest Flex Window yet, giving you more space to see notifications, widgets, and even app content.
Key information is now easier to read, as the Now Bar (showing real-time app activity and alerts) and Now Brief (providing quick updates and summaries like weather, schedules, and fitness data) are both bigger and better optimised for the expanded Flex Window. Samsung has also boosted its visibility, reaching a peak brightness of 2,600 nits with Vision Booster, so you won't struggle to see what's on your Flex Window even under direct sunlight.
Gemini Working With FlexWindow
Samsung has partnered up with Google's AI assistant, Gemini Live, to help make your life easier. Gemini Live will be incorporated directly onto the FlexWindow, even when the phone is closed. You can activate Gemini using your voice without ever flipping open the phone.
From setting up airport reminders to finding top-rated restaurants nearby, all the information can be pulled up to the display cover, completely hands-free. These information can then be saved to Samsung Notes for easy access later – it's like having a personal assistant right on your cover screen.
With camera sharing on Gemini Live, you can get help by just talking to Gemini. If you're ever curious about the name of a potted plant, you can simply point your camera to it and it'll answer as it it's a talking encyclopedia.
Multimodal AI FlexCam works alongside Gemini Live and uses the main camera system accessible via the FlexWindow. For instance, if you point the camera on the cover display at your pet, you could use Gemini Live to interpret animal behaviour in real-time.

More Customisation Options
You'll have more ways to personalise the larger and smarter FlexWindow. To customise your cover screen, there is a selection of wallpapers, expressive emojis with improved backgrounds, and even the ability to stretch your wall clock font for a bolder look.
The clock also cleverly adapts to your wallpaper, wrapping its font around faces or objects in the image so it steers clear of your chosen background.
Watch8
Going hands-free with voice commands continues to be a trend, even with the Galaxy8 watches. Developed in close collaboration with Google, the Galaxy Watch8 series is the first smartwatch to come out of the box with Gemini and be powered by Wear OS 6.
Gemini works with Galaxy Watch apps such as Samsung Health, Calendar, Reminder, and Clock. If you need to set a timer, you can deliver this command all by saying it aloud.
In addition, thanks to the new One UI 8 Watch, the user interface is perfectly optimised for the watch face. New Multi-Info Tiles give you easy access to health metrics, weather, events, and more, all with just a single glance.

Now Bar
First introduced with the Samsung Galaxy S25 series, this is a context-aware tool that works on your lock screen, zero-ing in on the apps that matter. On screen, it shows up as a "bar" at bottom-center.
The Now Bar is also coming to Galaxy watches, appearing front and center as a widget system on the watch face. Plus, the watch will also feature depthless notifications, which makes your key activities and alerts feel less overwhelming on a small screen watch.
